changing timing of period Posted: 01-14-08 23:07pm
I'm looking at going to Paris for a week
or so at the end of February. Problem is,
I get my period at the end of the month.
I've been on yasmin and I'm wondering if
there's anyway to skip pills or play with
them so that I can get my period earlier.
(starting of the month, preferably).
Most importantly, is it safe? I'm going to
be seeing my boyfriend in Paris and we'll
be having sex, after playing with the
pills, bcp should back me up still,
right?
While we're on the topic, is there a way
to change the time I get my period for
good? (not just once)
I seem to always have something important
happening at the end of the month, and
it's really aggravating having my period
then.

NO. IF you make your period come earlier
by quitting a pack early, then you LOSE
you pregnancy protection.
Here is the deal. YOU need at LEAST 21
pills in a ROW to be protected against
pregnancy before you can have a "period
week".
So you can take 22,27,28,55, or however
MANY pills you like before you have a
period... BUT NO LESS THAN 21 IN A ROW.
You CAN start a new pack EARLY to change
when you get your period, although you
could have some spotting and breakthrough
bleeding from doing that.
You just CAN NEVER stop the active pills
early.

stopping the pills early messes up your
period. i had to stop mine early and it
came on and off for 2 or 3 weeks
if anything i would call your doctor and
see if they think its okay if maybe you
continue on with the birth control instead
of stopping early.
im not sure if thats safe or not because
ive never done it but its worth a try!
good luck and have fun in paris!
