chances of being pregnant ?
Posted: 01-16-08 22:20pm

Ok, I'm 19, and my boyfriend and I have been dating for 4 months now, and we were fooling around. I know that unprotected, I always have the chance of pregnancy, but I know pre-cum's chances are slim to none of causing it (though they're still there).

My concern is that, about 15 days before my next period is supposed to be, we were messing around doing small stuff, and he put it in unprotected. I pulled off supposedly before he came, but he still got a small amount in there.

This is where you can tell I got quite scared and desperate. I went to the bathroom immediately afterward and scooped out what I could of it with my fingers, and (I know it's gross), I'd heard urine was a natural spermicide and put some on a cotton swab and thoroughly doused my inside with it. About 7 hours later, we went and got a douche for me to use in the shower, a vineger and water combo, which I did.

Lastly, I got a list of foods that you aren't supposed to eat while pregnant, because they can naturally induce abortions, and some included caffeine, spicy foods, sushi, deli meats, and shellfish, and I've been eating practically nothing but that since the day we did it.

Please, I need to know what my chances are after doing all that so I know whether to start lining up an abortion or not.

BTW: My next period starts Jan 26, we did it on Jan 13, and my periods are between 26-28 days long usually. They've been heavy flows mostly, pain and all, and I got birth control, but haven't been able to use it yet because I can't start it until my next period.

Also, if it helps, I know that when you've ovulated, your vaginal excretions look like mucus. I don't monitor my temperature, so I can't tell by that, but I know I haven't had that type of discharge yet this month. Does this mean I haven't ovulated yet?

Please help me!

You had sex on the 13th? If so, you can still get plan B. I highly suggest it.

I agree with the Plan B.

I'm not 100% on the food, but if you've never eaten/drunken them before, I believe it is possible to put your body into shock from it and possibly abort the baby, but don't count on it.

The douche thing is possible to stop the sperm, but that's usually directly after sex. In fact, people from the Depression would do it so much, women actually died from bleeding out caused from dryness because they would douche every time. And that much vinegar is just not healthy for your who-ha! That's why they say 4 times a year (I think, I've only read it once).

As for the urine, I know it's sterile in some ways, but I doubt it would be a spermicide, unless the pH is relatively high. Who knows, if you're not pregnant that might have done it, but I doubt it.

Again... Go for the Plan B. Not really affective after 72 hours though (3 full days).

You need to go RIGHT NOW to a drugstore and ask a pharmacist for Plan B. It is an extra high dose of birth control pill that will delay your ovulation so that the sperm will have nothing to fertilize.

GO RIGHT NOW.

none of those foods will make you miscarry/abort, your only option for that is either plan b or wait until you find out one way or the other then decide from there

People will try anything. Nothing surprises me. Before abortion was legal you would not believe what people did. Some women poured lye or acid into their bodies.

This is what I think is shocking:

It's not Tara's fault that she doesn't know about it, it is society's fault. Somewhere along the line, whether the school failed to educate her, her parents, her family doctor or the media, someone failed her, and many other young people as well.

Someone asked me for the 2003 study about pre-ejaculate. Here it is:

Futureshock: PLEASE do not post partial information.
It misleads these young girls into thinking that the PULL OUT method is an actual method of birth control WHICH IT IS NOT! No doctor or clinic would ever condone these girls using the PULL OUT method as their sole method of birth control!

The part you left out:

Welcome to sex-ed 101. Today, we are learning about Pre-Cum.

Pre-ejaculate fluid, also known as Pre-cum, is essential for reproduction. Cowper’s gland secretion lubricates the urethra, so that sperm is able to to smoothly ejaculate into a woman’s vagina.

Question 1: HIV is present in Pre-cum. T/F

True. Scientists have proven that HIV is present in pre-cum, mostly macrophages and CD4 lymphocytes. Meaning, if you have sex with someone that has HIV without a condom and he doesn’t ejaculate, you can still get HIV.

Question 2: Sperm is present in pre-cum. T/F
FALSE. Sperm being present in pre-cum is a myth, so go crazy. Sources are here, and here. It is physically impossible for sperm to creep up the epididymis into the urethra unless the male is going through an orgasm. The only explanation of how sperm could possibly be in a male’s urethra before orgasm, is that there were traces of semen lining the urethral walls (from a previous orgasm) before.

This also says that the “withdrawal” method is a 100% successful, no sperm, no baby. However, the average failure rate of 27% is probably because of waiting for the absolute last moment, or the person simply doesn’t know what he’s doing.

This is one of the studies that was cited in the page you directed to: Author is UNKNOWN

PIP: A study in Boston, Massachusetts, and another study in New York City examined samples of pre ejaculate fluid from HIV seropositive and HIV seronegative men to determine whether HIV was or was not present in pre ejaculate fluid. The researchers found macrophages and CD4 lymphocytes in most samples, indicating that HIV was present. The more significant finding, however, was that most pre ejaculate samples did not contain any sperm and those that did had only small clumps of a very small amount of sperm which seemed to be immobile. A larger study is needed to verify these results. If these results are confirmed, they may dispel the myth that pre ejaculate fluid contains sperm. An ongoing WHO/USAID study shows that the pregnancy rate caused by men with 3 million sperm/ml/ejaculation is very low; fertility clinics consider men with a sperm count of no more than 5 million/ml to be infertile, particularly if is there is low motility. The average ejaculation has about 100 million sperm/ml, but about 10 million sperm pass through the cervical mucus, about 1 million make it to the top of the uterine tract, and just about 100,000 sperm reach the fallopian tubes. Thus, only a couple of sperm, assuming motility, would reach the fallopian tubes in the case of the pre ejaculate samples with some sperm, which tended to be immobile (sperm levels only in the 1000s). Thus, the probability of pregnancy is very low if pre-ejaculate fluid enters the vagina. Pre-ejaculate fluid of 6 of the 9 HIV seropositive donors in Boston and 6 of the 14 HIV seropositive donors in New York contained HIV, regardless of symptom status or antiretroviral therapy status. Thus, the risk of HIV transmission may be higher than unplanned pregnancy, so people should use condoms before the penis enters the vagina, mouth, or anus.

NOTICE PLEASE that is says VERY LOW but does NOT say IMPOSSIBLE!

This is a foolish, foolish foolish thing for any of the girls who come here to think they or their boyfriends can master. They need to use condoms! They need information on where to go for good correct information. Posting studies about something that is NOT HEALTHY and is UNSAFE for them is not going to help anyone!

Pre-cum

were to start on this... Ok.. the first source on that website.. well first of all it does not state authors... that right there discredits the whole article. Second.. it just says the study was done in Boston and NYC... it doesnt state if it was done at hospital or a university... so there is no way to actually find out if this information is true or not... Third.. it only says that 14 test subjects were tested in New York... is that all? That number is so small that any scientist who reads that study will not even consider the study to be viable. Fourth... there is no mention at all if this study was peer reviewed.. this is very important in the scientific community... cuz if a paper is not reviewed it can not be published...if it is published it isnt worth anything... Lastly... You found this on the internet.... alot of "scientific" reports found on the net are not true or are ideas... unless they are peer reviewed, posted by an acredited University/Hospital/Scientific Organization.

Next Source... Everything looks good here... it has Authors, a place where the study was done... Purpose, Methods, and Results... looks like a legit scientific paper....oh wait... there is that thing with only 12 people being studied... The reason I mention this is that in any scientific study you need a large number of data points in order to say statistically that your findings either say yes your hypothesis is viable or not...

In the anatomy classes and the advanced physiology class I took, when I was a biology major, I read (from a published book), and was lectured to (by an MD) that there is sperm in pre ejaculate. I said was a bio major cuz I am now an environmental science major...just in case you were wondering. Every scientific paper I have read has (because it is required) all the things I have mentioned that those studies are missing. When we do papers for my classes our professors will dock points off if you even quote anything that is not a real paper.... if Wikipedia is quoted, points are taken off automatically...because of the way Wiki is done... anyone can put information on there and change it freely.

As far as that statement about sperm being in the urethra from a previous ejaculation.... well wouldnt the male have had to urinate sometime in between? If he did then what ever sperm cells left in there would either be washed away or killed.... they can not survive in the hostile environment that urine provides.

Actually, I'm almost positive about pre-cum resulting from previous ejaculation is correct. That is probably why it doesn't usually get someone pregnant.

Meh. To me, people should be using birth control to prevent pregnancy, not condoms. Condoms are for preventing diseases. If people would just use birth control, precum would not be an issue.

The part you left out:

I ALWAYS POST A SOURCE SO PEOPLE CAN READ THE ENTIRE PAGE FOR THEMSELVES. It is hard enough to get people to read a small paragraph, so they can read as much as they want .

ALSO, the VERY FIRST thing highlighted in my post said this:

The only explanation of how sperm could possibly be in a male’s urethra before orgasm, is that there were traces of semen lining the urethral walls (from a previous orgasm) before.

I have also stated, every time I bring this up, that the withdrawal method has a high failure rate because guys, especially younger guys, can not control when they ejaculate as well as they think, and also I ALWAYS ADD that there CAN BE SPERM IN PRE EJACULATE. I explain that sperm from a prior ejaculation can mix with the pre ejaculate and impregnate a woman.

I have never, ever suggested withdrawal is a valid form of birth control, because it is not. Pre ejaculate can get you pregnant, and I have never said otherwise. I am simply explaining how and why pre ejaculate can cause pregnancy.
