Smoking & Drinking Cause Miscarriage? Posted: 01-17-08 00:22am
Can Excessive drinking be the sole cause
of a miscarriage??I just recently found
out i was pregnant,and Im about 5 weeks.I
wasnt drinking because Im pregnant,i was
unaware at the time. In the past 2 days,
Ive drank maybe 3 pitchers of
margaritas, and had a few shots of rum.
I've also been smoking about 2 packs a
day. Will these things cause a miscarriage
or does something else have to happen??

it could
the most damage can be done in the first
trimester
it kindof depends though
some people do these things before they
find out they are preg and thier babies
turn out fine
for others they are not so lucky

I also have a friend... Posted: 01-17-08 00:50am
Well,my friend is about 5 weeks pregnant
as well...She knows she is pregnant and
has continued excessively drinking. I try
to stop her,and have even made her stay
with me so i can stop her, but i know she
wont stop. Will this cause her to have a
miscarriage,this isnt her first pregnancy
and she lost the other baby. I think this
might be why.She thinks that drinking alot
wont hurt the baby.

sounds to me like she might want a
miscarriage or maybe she doesnt want to
have a baby? I dont mean to sound mean
but why would you do that to your child?
As for you, I think you and your baby will
be fine as long as you stop now. like
the_girlfriend said......just take it
easy....I too smoked and drank while
pregnant (before I found out at 5 weeks)
The doctor said as long as it wasnt heavy
my baby is fine....so I am not too
sure....hope everything works out for you
and your friend and CONGRATS

yeah,im pretty sure she is trying to make
herself miscarry. Because she is screwed
up in the head. Shes not a friend by
choice,she is my fiances cousin.
Otherwise,i wouldnt have anything to do
with her.

Wow. She can really cause problems with a
baby if she continues drinking. Fetal
alcohol syndrome is NO JOKE - and that
will more than likely be what happens
instead of miscarriage...
She has options. She should look into them
before its too late.

Thats crazy! I feel so bad for people who
are out there who really deserve children
and can't have them. Then there are
dingbats like that who obviously have no
problems getting pregnant and then treat
such a gift like that!
I am no angel either I mean I drank alot (
I was on vacation, all inclusive...) and
smoked alot but I didn't know!
Having some problems quitting smoking as I
am sure you are as well but I am by no
means trying to miscarry!
She should l;ook into her options and seek
some mental help before she hurst herself,
or even worse, her innocent child!

You should also look into fetal alcohol
effects.. I think that can happen on the
14th day when you don't even know you're
pregnant. My doctor told me that if I TTC
not to drink
