weight loss and blistered tonsil Posted: 01-17-08 08:52am
My 20 year old son has lost nearly 2 stone
in weight in the last 5 weeks. He has had
2 blood tests which have not discovered
anything. He has also had a chest x-ray
which also came back clear. He now has
blisters on his tonsils. His appetite
seems ok but it is now difficult for him
to eat normally. He is on his 2nd course
of antibiotics. I wonder if anybody has
experienced anything like this?

(I'm not a doctor - just someone with
personal experience).
Blisters sound bacterial. However he may
have a viral infection (which cannot be
treated, obviously) and be getting
bacterial infection on top. If at the end
of the current course of antib's his
symptoms are not improved
--sufficiently--, make sure his doctor
knows this, because antib's can do a harm
as well as good in someone with a viral
infection (trust me, I know from
experience!). Was his blood tested for the
mono virus infection? Tell them about the
weight loss too. Good luck.
