My 10 yr old son started blinking quite frequently lately, he does not know why, sometimes does not know he is doing it.

It seems more behavioral than related to vision, according to my research. Tics, or rapid muscle movements, are quite common in children. They are normally not aware of it. Genetics and neurochemical differences are thought to be the most likely causes of repeated eye blinking.. Tics can be made worse with emotional tension. Children who have tics are usually normal, bright, and sensitive. Here are some more resources for you:

My 9-year-old does the same thing, but we're wanting to see if it could be related to the Focalin he takes for what's been diagnosed as ADHD, although he may be bipolar.

We had his eyes checked, used eye drops, and he still does it. Hopefully, it's just his meds, but I've heard that it's more behavioral than related to vision, also.
