I have recently been put on Lamitcal for
bipolar and I have a question. I am 24
year old female and have a question about
alcohol. I know I shouldn't overdue it
because of the cymbalta and lamit. I am
on; however, I find that my high risk
behaviors are acted on when I am drinking
(example - opening my car door on a
highway while my friend was driving). My
spendiing sprees and sometimes rage
episodes were never related to alcohol. I
figured since alcohol is a depressant it
wouldn't cause mania. Does anyone else
experience the same problems? I have
greatly decreased my alcohol intake but
sometimes I try to be a "normal 24 yr old"
and overdo it.

While my husband doesn't experience mania
as much anymore, he refrains from
drinking, period. When he drinks, he
feels more like doing strange things &
being on anti-depressants & drinking
alcohol is a bad combination. It's really
better that you not drink at all (if
possible) while you're taking medicine. I
hope that helps.
