This is my third month on Ortho-Tri Cyclen
Lo.
I had taken every pill on time until a
couple weeks ago.
I am worried because what I did was sort
of a double-whammy:
I took my pill three hours late, and I
threw up on the same night.
I have heard that both of these things can
make the birth control pill less
effective.
The next night, I took my pill on time and
didn't vomit.
The day after, I had unprotected sex and
allowed my boyfriend to ejaculate inside
of me.
Was I less protected because of the events
of the day-before-the-day-before? I am
concerned.

It really depends...what week of the pill
are you on? The first two weeks, I
wouldn't worry about it much. I did the
same thing once, and my doctor said it was
ok. Third week, maybe a little...not that
I'm a doctor. Is your period late?

it was the first week of this month, and
my period isn't due for another week but i
was just thinking about how it probably
wasn't too smart...

I am a womens health professional..
3 hours late is not bad at all, and you
would not lose protection from that.
AS long as the vommiting was at least 2
hours AFTER you took the pill, it would
not have affected the pill.
The pill is absorbed very quickly.

You're fine anyway, because only one
missed pill does not put you at risk.
