What Music Helps You?
Posted: 01-23-08 03:46am

I find that listening to a good song can sometimes help elevate my mood a bit. It doesn't cure my depression obviously (ha! If only it were so easy! Rolling Eyes ) but sometimes a song or piece of music can touch you and make you think.

I personally love this song Coldplay Lights Will Guide You Home

What songs/music do you use to soothe/wallow/encourage yourself? Post links if you can so we can all hear your choice!

Jules.

i LOVE coldpaly yellow Smile it cheers me up everytime
lights will guide you home is a great one too
and so is clocks

ok all coldplay Laughing

i really love jesus christ by brand new.
how to save a life by the fray

but here are the lyrics to jesus christ. its a wonderful song with powerful lyrics. i could listen to it over and over:

Jesus Christ, that's a pretty face
The kind you'd find on someone that could save
If they don't put me away
It’ll be a miracle

Do you believe you're missing out?
That everything good is happening somewhere else
But with nobody in your bed
The night is hard to get through

And I will die all alone
And when I arrive I won’t know anyone

Well, Jesus Christ, I’m alone again
So what did you do those three days you were dead?
Because this problem's gonna last
More than the weekend

Well, Jesus Christ I’m not scared to die
I’m a little bit scared of what comes after
Do I get the gold chariot
Do I float through the ceiling

Do I divide and pull apart
*****Cause my bright is to slight to hold back all my dark****
This ship went down in sight of land
And at the gates does Thomas ask to see my hands?

I know you'll come in the night like a thief
But I’ve had some time alone to hone my lying technique
I know you think that I’m someone you can trust
But I’m scared I’ll get scared and I swear I’ll try to nail you back up
(everyone now)
So do you think that we could work out a sign
So I’ll know it's you and that it's over so I won't even try
I know you'll come for the people like me
But we all got wood and nails,
Tortured and hating factory
But, we all got wood and nails
Your tortured and hating factory
Yeah, we all got wood and nails
Your tortured and hating factory
Yeah, we all got wood and nails
And we sleep inside of this machine

I LIKE POP TARTS

Sometimes, when I'm feeling depressed, I open winamp and I go to their media library. Then, you select "shoutcast radio" and "ambient"....It will sooth you like nothing else. Sure, you could listen to enigma or something inspirational, but personally I like the easy tones i hear under the ambient selection.

techno. Especially the Hampsterdance. if you've never heard it, download it, it's GREAT!

Plus the song Lean On Me by Rockapella. It's so much nicer when they do it.

I listen to Native American drumming and chanting. The sounds are so primal and beautiful and satisfying. They seem to go right to work on my mood. I think they're both calming and uplifting at the same time.

Our Lady Peace, U2, The Faint, Lovedrug, Damien Rice... The list could go on and on, but I'm obsessed with Muse. They're my all time favourite band. Any of the above artists can cheer me up. Ironically, I find that I get more cheered up if I listen to sad music.

Being a little older, I would have to say "Songs and Artists of the 70s-80s. But for relaxation, I got to have my new age or nature sounds. But, I love Ragae.

O.A.R. (of a revolution) always lifts up my spirit & my soul. Bob Marley is great for this too. Instrumental meditation music (like tibetian bells, pan flute, native american chants) can help me regulate deep abdominal breathing and help a lot too.

Andrea Bocelli is nice to listen to, and some of his songs are inspirational.

Sometimes I'll put on some dance/R n B stuff cuz it makes me want to dance and I sort of feel guilty being sad when it's on, if that makes any sense lol.

Sometimes it's different stuff really, I guess it just depends what I fancy.

Something full of energy. I've found another song, and it's just generally a happy, uplifting tune! I've probs got loads I just forget em.

Orson-No Tomorrow.

I'm so loving Rihanna please don't stop the music atm as well. These songs just make me wanna get up and dance about while singing into a hairbrush lol
