That is great that you are dilated. When is your due date? It is only the 23rd of Jan and your doctor set an induction date for Feb 11th??? seems odd.
Have you looked up the risks or being induced??? Look up the drug Pitocin and the risks to both mother and fetus. I wont say much more cause its not in my place, just make sure you are informed.

Good luck on finding a new place!!

But I agree with BabyAndy...your Dr is more than likely setting your birth for when it's suitable for HIM, not you.

no i am due on the between the 11-14th but he said that she will be ready to go near then if i dont have her before the 11th he is going to induce me... he said all he had to do is go in and break my water and wait till i was ready he said it usually takes all day but he said that that would be fine... he let us pick the date since my dh has only the 11-16th off for maternaity leave that it would be better to to it sooner that way he could be here to help me since there are 5 other kids here and then her... thanks for the info..

I hope you are dilated further than 1cm by then. They usually don't break your waters unless you are further dilated and further effaced. Meaning, it doesn't always work to break the water unless you are ripe and ready to go.

Good luck!

All I can say is - dry labour ain't no joke! Still, I recognise the practicality in all of this and I wish you and all of yours the very best of luck.

Be sure to ask your doctor what his course of action will be if the breaking of your water does not work. I guarantee, Pitocin is on his list. If your baby is not ready to come out and pitocin is given there is a high chance that you will have a C Section. And if Pitocin works for you, there is an even greater likelyhood you will end up with an epidural (not sure whatyour birth plan is, so that may not be an issue for you).
I have been doing a lot of research, Even though my induction would have been for medical reasons, I have refused it twice. D/t all the risks associated with forcing a body into labor.

I have been induced for both my children (with pitocin) and I didn't not end up having an epidural or a C-section. There are a lot of women who do not get pitocin and have had every intention to not have an epidural but they end up with one because they cannot handle the pain.

Also for the women who have ended up having a c-section after being given pitocin......who's to say that it wouldn't have ended up that way without it. I agree that there maybe a higher chance of having a c-section when you induce too early before your ready. But if your ready your just giving it a little kick start.

I am not starting a debate here or anything I just didn't want her to be scared if in the end she actually needs pitocin. Some women's labor actually slows down quite a bit and that can actually put the baby in harms way and sometimes it's the only way to get it going again. So it's not all bad.

I and my two children are living proof that inductions are not always a bad thing. My body just wasn't starting the process on its own.

No ttrying to scare you, sorry if that is how people saw it.
The key thing is, if you body is ready, then it may very well be a positive thing, its when they are starting labor from scratch that it often does not end up well.
Oh and wow ALL of your friends have been induced by the same doctor...that is fishy if you ask me. Does he not let anyone go into natural labor??? Or does he want the 10g's for himself for each delivery and wants tomake sure he is on vs another doctor??
Just wanted to make sure you were informed or will inform yourself, rather then just listening to the doctors. Sometimes they are money driven, like most people.
Inductions are only supposed to be used for Post date women and women with medical conditions, where the risk of the baby being inside is greater then the risk of the induction on a mother who's body was not ready for labor yet...keep that in mind.

I agree. I had pitocin on January 9th of this year because my son was 1 week overdue and running out of room and ambiotic fluids. My induction went to a mere 7 hours of labor and delivery, I was at 3cm when I went in to be induced. They poped my waters right away and after only a few hours after that I had dialated to 5cm, 45 mins later I was at 9cm!!!! I was not allowed to have any pain meds because I hadnt asked until I was at 5cm, when the nurse came back in that 45 min span, it was too late! So I ended up delivering my son all natural, had an episiotomy and 3rd degree tear but it was worth it. Ya know, I diddnt think I could do it, but I did! Both baby and I are healthy and doing well.

hey i didnt think about that see when i went for both of my ultrasounds my dr said that her ambiotic fluids were on the low side of normal and that may be why he suggested to induce me....
