If that's your, OR if you are into sports
or dancing, this could be signs of an
injury and you should talk to your coach,
nurse, or parents, and get checked out.
If you are young, these may also just be
growing pains. And they suck. They
normally occur at night when you're trying
to go to sleep. I know I had very bad
growing pains in my knees when I was in my
early teens. My Daddy would come in with a
sock and apply ben-gay to my knee and stay
with me until it felt better. It was a
very painful few years. It didn't happen
ever night, just every now and then. I
didn't even realise this until just now!!
I never thought much about those pains and
hadn't thought about them for years, but I
remember them keeping me up at night.
Asprin never worked right away and the
pain was fairly intense (I'd say a 4 or 5
on the pain scale, which is pretty bad for
a kid) so that's why I needed ben-gay too.

Then the best you can chalk it up to is
your bones growing. This can cause a range
of sensations from simple discomfort, to
itching, stretching sensations and yes,
pain. The places you've stated for the
pain is right where growing pains happen,
so unless your doctor comes up with
something else, that's the best I can
advise.
Remember to do gentle stretches, warm up,
and then do intensive stretching before
participating in sports. This is the best
way to prevent injury and maintain
flexibility.

I am 13 and I have the same thing. It
hurts when I run especially. The pain
usually goes away within a day of running
a lot. I play basketball, volleyball, and
I dance. It's just started recently and
it's really annoying.
