When can I give her cereal? Posted: 01-26-08 02:35am


Jayden's 5 weeks old and 4 oz doesn't fill her up anymore... I'm thinking about mixing in a bit of cereal, but Jacobs mom doesn't remember how old her kids were when she started. What age is okay to start?

I have read that a lot of doctors don't recommend it. I was told by the doctor with Chyanne, and this one to not to have cereal until they are 4 months old. Now whether anyone follows that i don't know lol. But it's hard for them to digest, and they could choke. I would say 2 1/2-3 months at the earliest, but that's just what i'm going to do.

I waited till 4 months. Maybe you should start trying 6 oz instead.

Yeah, I would give her more formula. Holly is right about doctors not recommending giving cereal so early. Some do and some don't. Ask your ped and see what he/she thinks. We waited until 4 months when we got the ok from our ped.

Mmmmkay I'll get some bigger bottles for now. We're going to her peds in two weeks anyways. Thanks ladies!

Go with more formula, NOT cereal.
