Q: Anxiety Attack Last Night And Worried

I have been having major anxiety attacks lately. Last night the one was about a small speck of something white on my spoon that wasn't there after I ate..So i'm convinced I ate either dried on dishwashing soap or listeria infested dried on sour cream. The spoon went through the dishwasher so it should have been clean...But i'm worried.

I am also worried about the effects this anxiety is having on my baby. I have read it increases the chances of adhd and other emotional problems in babies if hte mother has high stress and anxiety. I also read it's pretty normal to feel anxious during pregnancy but i'm sure my is abnormal...Since it makes me cry...I have never had such attacks before they seem to be related to pregnancy...Any advice anyone?

Probably your level of anxiety is normal for pregnancy, but you know you best also. Maybe, you could start by not reading about things that may affect fetuses, as they produce the anxiety you wish to prevent. This would probably help the baby more than any other preventions you may come across. You can always ask your doctor about what things to avoid (hopefully, one who gives time for talking).
I am naturally a moody person, and pregnancy up's my moodiness by several times. It did take awhile to reconize what was normal for me. Even for a while after my babies were born, and my one miscarriage, I would have boughts of depression, crying, and such. No matter how I tried to prepare or change it. They did go away, however.
This does not mean your fears/worries are not legit, just felt more strongly becuz of hormones? Talk to ppl (us...), this is the best medicine.
Most moms develop some protective/fear thing around something, perhaps yours is food germs, or cleanliness? Mine is not knowing where my children are, esp. On trips/in the car...
Just know you are not alone, litterally Wink or cybernetically

Thanks for the reply mr..I really appreciate it. I know some of my fears are normal but sometimes they get carried away..Like today I have a sore throat so i'm convince I have toxo or listeria especially since the baby's movement's are not as pronounced as they had been. I called my dr and they said since i"m only 19 weeks the not feeling the baby all the time is normal..It probably just changed positions...As long as I feel something they said not to worry..So i'm trying..And talking it out does help. So thanks..I appreciate your input.
