Lower back pain and neck pain
Posted: 01-27-08 02:54am

I am having neck pain and lower back pain, both severe. I am having numbness in my left arm and shooting pain down my left leg. The ER doctor told me that I need to see a neurosurgeon, but I have no insurance. He said that I would likely need surgery and an MRI. How much does this cost? Also they put me on Prednazone and Loratab 10. The pain meds give me a little relief but I am still hurting. Can I get something stronger, if so what do I ask for? I have never had pain like this. I walk hunched over and with a limp and I am only 35. Crying
or Very sad How much is a consultation with a neurosurgeon and what will he do exactly? I need some help with info and money obviously but I dont expect any money ey from anyone just some advice on what I can do and what I have to look forward to. Also any info on the pain meds woulod be greatly appreciated as the Loratab 10 are not working. Also, the doctor said that I have something wrong with a disk, I cant remember the word that he used, but I am going back to the ER to get the medical records and find out, but he also said that I have lumbar damage and onset of arthiritis. What does this all mean for me?

Thank you.

Before you go to something as invasive as surgery, I would suggest that you ask the help of a chiropractor. You can get a really long way with one of those and they aren't that expensive....trust me, it will REALLY help with a lot of the pain, even tho it may take quite a few visits before you start to notice the effects of treatment. It will take a while for your muscles to adjust to being back the way they are supposed to be. Before anything, you should be using cold compresses on your worst areas to reduce inflamation.

Mine is only about 35 dollars a visit without insurance, so it's really worth a shot.
