I know you are not suppose to eat fruit
when on this diet (kinda crazy but
whatever) but I was wondering if you
followed all the other rules but included
fruit in your daily 'eats' would you still
lose weight (especially if one is working
out doing cardio 5 miles a day/5 days a
week)?
I've done Atkins before and was very
successful at it (until I put weight back
on lol) but I followed it to the "T" and
didn't put anything into my body that the
book told me not to put into it. I
averaged about 3-4 lbs a week of weight
loss (after the first week where I lost 12
lbs)!
Thanks.
P.S. The fruit I would be eating (as long
as it doesn't harm the diet) would be Gala
apples and bananas (typo)? Thanks:P

I really think the fruit question is
something you will need to experiment with
yourself. Only your body can tell you what
or if fruit will work for you. Atkins
himself stressed how individual we each
are in terms of our carb tolerance.
So experiment--and keep experimenting,
because as your body adapts to the new
diet regime, it's sensitivities may
change. What caused you problems early in
the diet may not later, or vice versa.
Also, as for gaining the weight back, if
you return to high carb eating habits, you
will likely regain weight. Though your
sensitivity to carbs will change the
longer you're avoiding carbs, I don't
think the problem typically goes away. The
basic body chemistry remains a constant:
as long as insulin is in your bloodstream,
you won't be burning fat. As your insulin
resistance reduces, your blood insulin
levels should be reduced as well, but I
don't think it ever goes away.
Good luck!!!

You can't eat fruit on atkins because of
the sugar content. You may as well sit
down and eat a candy bar or a loaf of
bread. Yes, fruit is good for you, so it
does seem silly, but in the beginning you
just cannot eat fruit. But, if you are
willing to risk it, you could try it.
That's all you!
