Side effects from birth control Posted: 01-28-08 11:48am
Hi,
My periods come about ever 2 weeks, so
sometimes I'll get them twice in a month,
and they usually last about 7 days. This
has been happening for about 8 months now.
I asked my doctor about it and she said
that she might put me on the birth control
pill to regulate them.
I've heard negative side effects of the
pill include lots of weight gain, hair
loss, and yeast infections (which
unfortunately I'm already susceptible to
)...But positives
include increase in breast size and
regulation of hormone levels.
Have any of you experienced any of these
side effects?
Also, I've seen a lot of posts about the
different brands of the pill...Is there
that much of a difference between each
brand?
Thanks a lot,
Jasmine

I've been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo for
about 6 months now. At first it was a
little rocky, I was very moody (health
forum) and just felt weird. I DIDN'T gain
any weight or loose any hair. I used to
have REALLY painful periods and pms, and
heavy bleeding and now I don't hurt nearly
as bad and my periods are lighter and more
predictable. You should talk more to your
doctor about your fears/questions about
birth control, but don't let fear keep you
from doing something that will make you
feel alot better both mentally and
physically.

Just try it and find out!! Pills affect
every girl differently. Most likely,
you'll find one that works great for you.

I think I'll try going on it, except first
I have to go get a blood test, because my
doctor thinks my blood iron might be low.
I think it'll be beneficial if I go on it,
or at least try it out and see how it
works.
Thanks for the help!
