Gingivitis or rotated tooth? Posted: 01-28-08 19:37pm
Hello. I have some sensitivity on one of
my molars... i didn't know why, i thought
i had a cavity or something. But looking
closely, i noticed that the sensitivity
comes from a spot closest to my gumline.
It looks that a little bit of the root of
my molar is exposed.
I don't have this problem in the
surrounding teeth, and my gums seem
healthy. They do bleed from time to time,
but not everyday. They almost always bleed
when i floss, but i have very tight teeth
and i struggle to get the floss in there,
and when i do it does go harshly into my
gums...
Anyways, this tooth that i speak about
seems somewhat rotated inwards... So i'm
wondering if it's possible that
sensitivity can occur from exposed roots
due to tooth rotation.
I recently went to my dentist, and i asked
her about my sensitivity, she just looked
and said 'mmh'. I have a really small
cavity in the tooth next to the really
rotated one, she said it could be that.
Thanks in advance for any input you can
give me.

of course sensitivity could arise from
root exposed due to gum recession and gum
recession could be cause by tooth rotation
it is called afraction ,maybe it could be
restore with a resin restoration or you
can try asking your dentist for topical
flouride application in the area or Gel
Kam prescription ,other thing that works
for some patients is use Sensodyne
toothpaste ,after you brush your teeth and
floss put a little amount of sensodyne on
your finger and apply it to the sensitive
area and leave it there ....and about
bleeding after flossing it is not normal
and it is indicative that plaque have not
been efficiently removed in that area and
is causing inflammation (gingivitis) keep
and eye on those areas and reinforce the
flossing there (every day) and after 5 day
of flossing continuously you will no bleed
...you could try a wax floss or a tape
floss( I like oral B) that are easier to
enter on tight teeth
