cold sores, HSV 1 and heat compress Posted: 01-29-08 11:27am
I just ready yesterday a fact about heat
compresses...
A heat compress
(hot, wet washcloth, for example) can be
helpful when you're feeling the tingle of
a cold sore / herpes type 1 outbreak. You
apply a heat compress to bring out the
virus more quickly.
On the other hand, DON'T add heat AFTER
the outbreak has blistered.
Not a good thing.
Any other news about heat and cold sores?

There's some crazy heat machine a company
sells in Canada. It's supposed to deliver
30 seconds of high-impact heat on a cold
sore to stimulate the cold sore into the
blistering stage.
On the flipside of that, I read that
applying cold may help relieve the pain of
a cold sore, but will slow the healing
process.
