28wks pics!! Posted: 01-29-08 12:29pm
Reminder from a month ago (24wks)
And from today (28wks) the three little
dots are from my cat he wasn't in a good
mood when I picked him up
This is kinda relaxed
This is how I normally am (I try to keep
it sucked in to keep my muscles tight,
maybe that's why no one notices yet )

Very cute bump. There is a for sure a
difference. From looking at you pics...I
am going to be HUGE. I am almost 20 weeks
and already almost that size--ugh. I am
not use to gaining sooooo much weight in
so little time. you look great though.

lol, well I'm not the smallest girl, I'm
pretty tall and my abdomen is pretty tall
itself, so it still growing up instead of
out. It still has plenty of room inside so
it has no reason to grow out. I'm not
complaining because I can still sleep
somewhat on my stomach

GRR!!! I just had my appointment today and
got my glucose test back, failed it by TWO
POINTS!!! stupid candy bars... So now I
get to go in Friday for the wonderful 3
hour test that I'll probably pass with
flying colors. Bruised inner elbows, here
I come!
Doc said my iron levels were good, and
there's nothing else wrong with me. She's
surprised at how healthy I am for waiting
as long as I did to get prenatal care
(21wks my first appointment). I'm
healthier than a horse. Well I am Rh-, so
I got to get a wonderful shot in my butt
today too. ok, other than THAT, I'm
healthier than a horse

What kind of health issues did your doctor
think you'd have for waiting until you
were 21 weeks along?
Stop eating sugary foods! You are really
on the edge of gestational diabetes, you
need to monitor your blood sugar better.

I didn't have my papers to go, so I waited
til I had my birth certificate til I
finally went. I was taking prescription
strength prenatal vitamins from the health
department since like 10wks. I've been
taking all my supplements since then too
and since my sisters and friend were
pregnant, they told me what I
could/couldn't take OTC medication wise.
Apparently if you don't go to the doctor
once you find out you're pregnant, there's
something physically wrong with you. IDK,
people confuse me.
On a daily basis, I can't stand eating
sugar. But there are times I just CRAVE
it, so that's why I indulged on 5 candy
bars the night before my test. Mind you, I
haven't had many food cravings so when I
do get one, I usually HAVE to give into
it.

People eating 1,600 calories per day
should "try to limit" their added sugars
to an average of 6 teaspoons per day.
Those of us who eat 2,200 calories per day
should limit added sugars to 12 teaspoons,
and those eating 2,800 calories should
stay at or below 18 teaspoons.
People have NO idea what kind of sugar
intake they have! EVERYTHING you buy that
is processed has sugar in it!
Here's a snapshot of the cereal survey:
* Based on a 50-gram serving, Kellogg's
Froot Loops had 22.5 grams of sugar, as
much as a dark chocolate Kit Kat bar.
* Nestle Nesquick had 23.3 grams of sugar,
almost on par with a Twix candy bar.
* And Post's Sugar Crisps cereal had over
26.6 grams of sugar. That's more sugar
than a Coffee Crisp bar or Snickers.
One gram of granulated sugar is about 1/4
teaspoon, so about four grams of sugar
would be in a teaspoon.
This means, depending on the candy bars
you ate, you could have ingested 30
teaspoons of SUGAR! Which is nearly TWICE
as much as a person on a 2800 calorie diet
should be on. That doesn't take into
consideration any of your other foods for
that day.

I don't think wild deer meat has sugar in
it... or potatoes... or chex... Does milk?
I only eat cereal that doesn't have sugar
in it like Chex, Cheerios, Rice Krispies.
And like I said, I can't stand sugar,
especially on my cereal, it's too grainy.
Unfortunately I only eat one big meal a
day, plus cereal/fruits/veggies the other
parts of the day. I guess the fruit would
have natural sugar in it...

you should be eating more than one big
meal a day.
And when I say "big" meal, I'm not talking
about a HUUGE portion. I'm talking about a
meal that has a meat, starch, &
veggie.
I eat breakfast, share a snack with Oni,
Lunch, share a snack with Oni, and then
supper.
If I get hungry past 7, I'll eat fruit.
Grapes are my current fav, but I'm a HUGE
fan of peaches and mandarin oranges.
Oh yea, and milk does have sugar in it.
Not a TON, but it's def there.

I know I'm SUPPOSED to eat 3 'big' meals a
day plus two snacks. We just don't have
that type of food. Plus that's how I've
always eaten... snacks all day then a big
meal at night (depending on the day,
anywhere between 5pm and midnight). I've
never had a 'schedule' which I KNOW will
mess me up when I have this baby.
I still can't understand how people have
three big meals a day. Never could,
probably never will. Cereal in the
morning, fruits and veggies til I feel
like making supper, then if I'm still
hungry, yogurt and more fruit. That's what
I've always done, and probable continue to
do unless we hit the lottery then we will
probably live on seafood then
OOO!! I just remembered I have artichokes
in the fridge!!! I know what I'm snacking
on!!!

FYI: Usually kids like to eat lunch - that
comes after breakfast and before dinner.
In fact, little babies like to eat
MULTIPLE times per day, starting every few
hours.
You aren't supposed to eat 'big' meals.
That is a really archaic way of thought.
In fact, people are meant to graze
throughout the day not eating HUGE meals
that overfill them, but eat small 'snack'
type meals every few hours.

6 small meals a day
What do you mean, "you don't have that
type of food"?
What will you feed your toddler that wants
to eat ALL day long??

I know newborns eat 9-12 times a day...
probably because their stomach is the size
of 3 whole grapes. And obviously once they
get bigger, it'll lower, but still have to
have snacks.
Our 'big' meals usually consist of meat,
some type of potato (they've been baked
since I can't make mashed without water),
and a steamed veggie. If not that, it's
spaghetti and garlic bread (if I have a
half gallon of water). I hate not being
diverse in how I cook, but that's the best
I can do for now.
But again, I eat throughout the day. Earl
is a truck driver so he's gotten used to
eating one big meal a day and that's it. I
still can't figure out how he survives on
that.
