Now in this same time I have gained 11
pounds. I feel sluggish, can't lose weight
even though I eat a childs amount of food,
walk 2 miles at least 3 times a week and
my main snack consist of coffee w/splenda,
and maybe 1/2 scoop of ice cream.
My dr. says my thyroid is fine but my ??
is this. Could it be that it's not off
enough to show up on a test but still
cause me problems? Would it hurt to try a
natural remedy for the thyroid? If not
what should I try?
Any suggestions or ideas about anything I
wrote would be appreciated!!!

Have you been checked for TSH and thyroid
hormones levels?

People who have even mildly high blood
levels of a hormone, called
thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), may
have elevated blood cholesterol levels.
Having hypothyroidism slows down the
metabolism and consequently may cause
weight gain and difficulty with weight
loss.

I've got you beat. Just had mine blood
tested last week.
Total chol :294!!! (blew me out of the
water)
chol/hdl: 6.3 (highest ever)
hdl: 47
LDL : just over 200!
Of course, I've gained 30 lbs since last
test 16 years ago, and
don't run nearly as much. My dream year
was 1990. My numbers
that year were total chol: 189; hdl: 67,
giving a 2.82 ratio. Sweet.
I had just lost 20+ lbs and was running
hard.

everything will be alot better.
294!!?? Omg.....what are you taking for
it? The medicine I was on made my muscles
hurt...That's why I'm taking Niacin.

Hee, I don't take drugs...well, only as a
last resort, and I ain't there yet. I've
been doing some business travel lately and
the food and lack of exercise played a
role in my bad numbers, I'm quite
sure...currently I'm working on getting
back to where I should be.
Your numbers aren't that bad anyway. Does
heart attack run in your family? If not,
I would sweat it too much. My 72-year-old
neighbor has a chol of about 300, and so
does his 97 YEAR OLD mother!

lol..I bet you're right about eating on
the road and lack of exercise. Once things
ae back to normal for you your levels
should even out.
I'm not worried about a heart attack...I
had a stress test done and they said my
heart was excellent. I just want to keep
it that way!! I want to live to be as old
as your neighbor and his mom!!! lol

Try supplements??? Posted: 03-14-08 21:38pm
Have you looked into nutritional
supplements at all? There are several
studies out there on the benefits of items
such as niacin, olive oil, CoQ10, and fish
oil just to name a few. Just make sure
you look at a high quality
supplement...preferably not something from
Walmart. Something that is pharmaceutical
grade is best. Just remember, you get
what you pay for.

Same question, why not look in natural
supplements. I know a great one and it
totaly works, plus if you don't like it
money back. Let me know if you want to
check into it.
