I don't think anything worded 'This makes this happen' is 100% correct. Because it's not. Sex makes babies happen. Not to people that are sterile!

I don't think you're aloud to take out their front AND back claws.

Inside claws/nails are sharper than outside claws/nails. My dog Milly didn't have any front claws when we found her. After we had her inside for about a month, they where SHARP! thank goodness for nail clippers...

Not to be rude, but I don't need a lesson in internet tones-of-voices or how always doesn't always mean always. I was responding to a comment that declawing "always seems to make cats mean" and I was calmly responding that in our case it did not. I certainly don't need to be lectured or patronized. I didn't say anything in a nasty or offended fashion.

So, umm, yeah. Back up off it. Thanks.

Cats have sharp claws and WILL scratch! If you are not prepared to have a cat scratch you or your furniture then don't buy a cat! Declawing is inhumane IMO. Would you like someone ripping out your fingernails?

One could argue that spaying/neutering is inhumane too. Would you like someone cutting out your uterus because they thought you shouldn't breed? See how that can be flipped?

My cat was sedated and her procedure was performed at the same time as her spay. Her recovery was remarkable - I've said it before in this thread but I'll repeat it for you - she was more sore from her spay than anything. I'm not even sure if she noticed her paws at all - they never seemed to bother her. I took extra precaution with her just in case. I switched to a gentle cat litter made entirely out of newpaper (Yesterday's News) and I was careful with her for a few weeks when I'd put her down.

Asia is a very gentle, loving cat. Her only flaw was she would get overly excited when she would play, to the point where she would leave SCARS. We're not talking about small scratches, and we're not talking about furniture. We're talking about lasting scars left from huge slices in the skin. I've owned cats half of my life, and she is the first I've ever declawed. I'll repeat myself yet again when I say I would never advocate declawing just for the heck of it, but I feel perfectly justified having hers done.

You're entitled to your opinion, but please save your judgments. I treat my cat extremely well, and there was nothing inhumane about her declawing. I didn't take her behind the house and whip out the garden shears.

oh man. I think that there's always a reason for everything.

We waited to spay our kitty until she was 2. We thought maybe that would make her nicer, and not want to go outside. But guess what? It didn't.

But we didn't plan on breeding her and her heats were coming more often and lasting LONGER. And anyone with a female cat, knows how ANNOYING they are when they're in heat!

If Asia is an inside cat, and doesn't have the urge to run outside, then declawing her WAS the best thing for her/your skin. I mean, imagine if Aly was playing with her and she scratched her face, or arm?!?! I don't even wanna think about that!

That's another reason I'm grateful we had it done, Sarah. Asia was declawed before I even became pregnant, but when Alyvia pets her, I feel better knowing that if Asia does bat at her, she won't scratch her. Not that I'm 100% positive that Alyvia is safe with her, nor do I leave them alone unsupervised, but I do feel safer.

And yes, she's 100% an inside cat. She has no interest in going outdoors. I think she knows her food dish and the waterbed are inside. Laughing

LOL! I love fat cats!!

I tell Oni that ALL cats are mean. But that's because ours is. And Baron's grandmaws isn't too fond of kids. SO I'd rather her stay away from them ALL...just in case..ya know?

I'm the same way with her with dogs. I want her to realize that not all dogs are as sweet as SUG. And that MANY dogs bite!

I am not trying to start drama by the way. Just voicing my opinion. I am way too tired to get into an argument about it so I am dropping it now

You have a male kitten, right? You do realize that if you don't neuter him, your entire house will be bathed in cat urine soon, right?
