My little boys are only 11 months and 1 week apart. I would not suggest getting pregnant right away. Unless your child is really independent, it will be pretty difficult. My youngest is 9 months old now and it is easier now, but it can still be difficult at times.

my kids are just over 10 months apart. i love it that way but i don't think it will be for everyone. It is hard having two in nappies/diapers etc but my two are really close and good friends

That is one thing that is good about it. They are usually closer. Alex isn't really old enough to be able to tell if they are going to be close, but I hope so. I can tell he is going to look up to Ethan though. He crawls around following him all day! Laughing

If you are worried about money DO NOT get pregnant again. It is very expensive to raise two babies!

I think a bigger age gap is best, personally. Like 5yrs or more. As far as them being close I think it really depends on their personalities NOT their age. I know siblings 20 yrs apart and are really close, and some 1-2yrs apart who hate eachother (as adults). Although I do think its easier for the parents having them close in age as they play with/amuse eachother so you dont have to as much, and you get past the sleepless nights, diapers, etc all the stages all at once....well not exactly at once but you go through those stages around a similar time with both.

i am really close to my sister and we are 17 years apart. I think it does depend on the kids you are right. My sister and layla get on sometimes but then argue and bicker and there is 4 years between them.

I heard from my prenatal doctor that it is best to wait 2 years between kids to let your body completely heal.
It probably wouldn't really hurt you to have another baby a year after the first, but the doctor said 2 years is the perfect amount of healing time.

And about the siblings being closer due to age,my older brother is 18 months older than I am and we NEVER got along until I moved out and had my son(now we get along really well)my younger brother is 18 months younger than I am and we never really got along either until now.My sister is 7 years older than I am and we never got along either,we were too far apart in age,we weren't interested in the same things. So I think it all depends on the child's personality and how they interact with each other. It's not always easier with them really close in age,and it's not always easier with kids farther apart in age.It all depends on your kids.

That is like my sister and I she is 37 and I am 19 and we get along great. My little brother (17) and I fight all the time. We can barely stand each other most times. So.. I know what you mean.. it all depends on the kids

My son is soon to be 12 and my daughter is 5 and they get alone. I think though that it has a lot to do with my son. He is just very tolerant of younger children. He really is good to her. He will sit with her on the bus (even though he desperately wants to sit with his friends) he plays well with her. I am very glad.

I am now trying for one more and there still will be an age gap but I think that my daughter will make an excellent big sister. Having this much space between them for me has been a good thing. I was able to give each of them the time and attention they needed without taking away from another little one. But like I said that is my preference. i am in no way implying that any of you girls on here have not given your kids attention. All your kids are very close and I think that's great.

Another thing is my kids now are terrific helpers. So when I do have another one I know that I have an extra set of hands or two.

Thats really important to me too. Ever since having Jay, I've felt like im so glad I can give him my full complete attention, especially the times he needs it even more like when hes sick etc, no demanding baby/toddler younger child to have to share my time with. I can focus 100% on him and his needs. Thats one of my main reasons for thinking a 5 year age gap minimum is best. Once they are a bit older they become more independent, can do more things for themselves, and dont rely on you as much, so then you have more time to concentrate on a baby, and still have time for the older child for playing games/helping with homework etc.

She said she's around 20 weeks in a previous post. I'm not sure where 7 weeks is coming from.
