Princess, I don't think Devon giving up
his parental rights means the same thing
as not having to pay child support.
I don't think men can "opt out" of child
support, no matter what they do. Only you
can decide not to go after him for child
support. But if you ever need welfare or
some other types of governmental
assistance, in many cases you have to give
them Devon's name so they can go after him
for child support.
The rational is, why make taxpayers foot
the bill for money for your child, but his
biological father gets off scott free?
If Dallas adopts your son, then Devon
would be off the hook financially.
If anyone knows any differently, please
post information so Princess can look into
it.
