Hi. I am worried about the possibility of
colon cancer. The reason I am so scared is
that my grandfather died of colon cancer,
and my uncle had colon cancer, and I have
colitis which is a risk factor for colon
cancer. My doctor says I need a
colonoscopy and I've heard that it isn't
that scary to get a colonoscopy, but I am
scared to hear what results I may get.
Should I get a colonoscopy or just leave
well enough alone and wait until symptoms
appear and hope I don't have anything.
Sometimes, no news is good news.

What type of colitis you have and what
symptoms you are experiencing?

I am not a doctor, but how could you have
colitis diagnosed without a colonoscopy?

You can be suspected for colitis based
upon your symptoms, but, colonoscopy can
only confirm that and find out the exact
location, extent and severity of colitis
lesions.
What kind of symptoms you have?

Yes have the colonoscopy done. I have had
it and there is nothing to it.. It doesn't
hurt in any way and you won't remember any
of it. The hardest part is the prep work.
you have to drink a liquid to clean out
your intestines.
You should not wait for symptoms. They can
find things during the colonoscopy early.
And if you have thing it is best to find
it EARLY!
My father died of colon cancer too. I had
nothing when they did mine I have one
every 5 years..
He never had one and when they found his
he had symptoms and it was already in his
liver.
They makes these test to get it early and
people are living because of them.. Get
the test!

Have the test done. If they find any
problems like pre-cancerous polyps they
can remove them immediately before they
spread. My husband's colon cancer had
spread to his liver when they found it
which is not good at all. The doctors are
not giving him much time. Don't wait. You
can beat it early in the game. His two
sisters went in and had polyps removed and
are fine. Do it for you and have your
whole family do it no matter their age.
You won't regret it.

Have the test done. I didn't and now it's
late for a lot of options. Please dont
make the same mistake as me. it may be
nothing in the end.
