Don't Know What to Do Update...
Posted: 09-12-03 16:09pm

Ok I found out what is going on inside of my body.. My doctor told me that I have hpv. When they did test 2 years ago the cells multipled with in 2 months. So they want to do a cone something.. Which means they take a big piece of my cervix out to see if it has cervical cancer. So that means it is going to hurt.... My doctor told me that if it is real bad I might have to have a histurecomy. That will suck, except for the part that my periods wont come again. The other thing I was wanting to now is has anyone ever had this done. I do not have any medical covrage at this time and it looks like it will be awhile. So what I want to now is what kind of money $ should I expect..... See working in the medical field does not all ways pay off.... Thank you guys.

I am a new user so I am not sure about the background you gave earleir about your problem.
But I had a cone biopsy in 1997.
Basically, a cone shaped piece of your cervix is cut out during surgery.
This bit is taken to pathology lab to determine how serious the problem is.
Sometime the infected part ends up being cut out completely.
Only if the damege is extensive do you then have your uterus taken out.
If all seems clear, life goes on as normal only that you have to have pap smears every 6 months for the next 1 year then annually after that.
The only problem is that you can never use an inter uterine device nethod of contraceptives and never have a normal vaginal delivery, only c-sections as your cervix will never contract due to the scarring from the op. You will also need to have a stitch put in when pregnant to prevent miscarriage.
Not to worry much as I am having the second child after the cone biopsy.
I hope the info has been of help to you.

I hade a cone done thank god it wasent cancer!! But I got pregnant one mth after it I carried just fine and no you do not have to have a c-section just b/c of the surgery!! Your cervix heels faster than any other part of your body as for the stitch that is if you have had multiple freezes which weekens your cervix not a cone!! And the uterine device?? That was weird who is your doc?? Sorry but you should be just fine after and normal and it does not hurt at all only the biopsy botherd me very weird!! After I was done I was fine just a little cramp!! Rolling Eyes

Help!!!

I had my paps done about 3 years ago and the doctor said I had irregular cells. I has diagnosed with hpv about 4 months ago. The doctor told me that I need to have a biopsy done but I never went back. I am waiting for my medical insurance to clear coverage. I am not a doctor person but when I get pain down there it's unbearable. I get warts and they hurt. The doctor said they usually don't hurt but since it hurts that badly she recommends that I get checked asap, I get spotting, pain so bad that I can hardly walk, is it really bad? Does anyone else get these symptoms?
