about my results??????
I am freaking out now because I don't know

the longest night of my life

Aww, hun, I'm praying for you! I hope all
goes well. Sometimes they just have to
tell the results (good or bad) in person.
Hopefully, it's good news, but she not
allowed to tell you over the phone.

Just stay positive hun. It's probably
something minor. <3

Most likely it is dysplasia. This is
COMMON. A lot of doctor's offices won't
tell you over the phone (which I think is
a terrible policy!), and causes women a
lot of undue worry! It seems barbaric and
unfair!
That said, have you been tested for HPV?
70% of cervical changes are caused by HPV.
80% of women will get HPV in their
lifetime. Once you have HPV, you have it
forever. This is the reason we get pap
smears, by the way, to check for cervical
changes! So keep up on your pap smears,
ladies. It takes years for dysplasia to
turn into cancer. If you have been keeping
up on your pap smears, the likelihood that
it has turned to cancer is VERY VERY VERY
LOW. In fact, not all dysplasia progresses
to cancer if left alone.
Relax. Getting rid of dysplasia is a
simple procedure. First you'll get a
colposcopy. The results will tell your
doctor from there.
Additionally, pap smear is NOT a
diagnostic tool. It only tells your doctor
when further investigation may need to be
done.
Good luck!

Sometimes a pap comes back abnormal, then
its fine when the do the follow up also.
When this happend to me I found out I had
HPV, but it can be nothing. Try not to
worry too much, I'm wishing you the best.

I wouldnt worry like others said it could
be HPV, I had abnormal cells when i was
pregnant with joseph and had a colpo done
after he was born and all came back fine.
If anything they will want to do a repeat
pap in a few mths if it is HPV. And if
that one is abnormal also then they will
prob do the colpo. I dont think anything
else is really bad. I wouldnt worry.

i know several ppl that had to go back for
"abnormal" paps and go thru them plucking
like a piece of cervix out with tweezers
and then nothing being wrong. Im sure itll
all be ok. good luck tomorrow.

I agree with everyone else - it's probably
something minor like dysplagia. I had HPV
3 years ago. I had to have 2 biopsies and
2 rounds of cryo-therapy (they freeze the
part of the cervix that has abnormal
cells) and all my paps have come back
normal since then. As long as you're
getting checked out every year, they've
probably caught it at a VERY early stage.
Try not to worry (I know that's easier
said than done). Believe me, I freaked out
when I had my first abnormal pap, but like
Ingi said, 80% of women get HPV. If you
ever want more info, feel free to PM me.

See that's the thing I have had HPV for
years now. I had abnormal cells and had to
go for a biopsy which came back fine. But
I have had normal paps since that biopsy
so I thought that I was ok. Could this be
another flare-up??
I think that one of my fears is that I
find out that I have an STD or something
which would mean that my dh has not been
faithful.

Yes, it is a flare up. OR, your pap smear
might read that they need to take a
further look. This is a lifelong
affliction (HPV).
Try not to think the worst. That will get
you nowhere but hurt. ((hugs)) It will all
be fine.

Thanks Ingi I really think that
doctors need to get a better system.
Especially when it is something that isn't
worth the big worry. It's frustrating!!

I hear you! It isn't fair that they wait a
whole day to tell you something that
really could have been said over the
phone. Don't they realize how frightening
that can be?
I changed doctors to a female gyno - and
her nurses will tell you point blank right
over the phone EXACTLY what is going on. I
love it!

See my doctor is a female but she is all
about the money. She just wants me to come
in so she can swipe my health card. I
think tomorrow I am going to tell her that
next time I want to be told on the phone.
I'll still come in if she needs me too but
to wait like this is just cruel!!

HPV can take up to 5 years (that's what my
doc said) to show up at all. Out of the
100 or so strands of it, only 4 cause
cancer and they now have a shot for it.
Ever seen the commercial for 'one less'?
that's what its for. My HPV showed up
because I got pregnant and I'm lucky
enough that it's not on my cervix. But my
doctor did 'advise' me to get the shot
after I give birth, just in case (there's
a total of 3 I think)
I don't like how they can't tell you
ANYTHING over the phone. It causes
unneeded worry. Could be something huge or
something extremely minor and you get to
worry til you go in!
Good Luck sweetie!!! I hope all is well!!

Do you have high risk HPV? Because I've
been told by my gyno that if you do,
getting the shot isn't going to work.

I have one of the cancerous strains of
HPV. In the end I'll probably have a
hysteroectomy before it gets out of hand.
