The "yellowish patches/spots on the back
of the throat" could be stacked phlegm.
Phlegm is created in the nose and
para-nasal sinuses. Typically, phlegm
slides down the throat and is either spit
out or swallowed. Phlegm is especially
noticeable in the mornings because it
becomes dryer and less mobile at night due
to the horizontal position of the body
