How can you tell if you're dilated? I've been having really intense menstrual cramps and pelvic pressure for the last couple of days (I've always had pressure but I think it's getting worse) I called the doctor and he said to wait for my appointment and he'll check it out then (15th). But I checked my cervix today (I know, I know, I'm not supposed to be up there) and I could fit my entire middle finger tip (like the top part of my finger-nail and everything) up there. Now I'm reading around the internet and places are saying that one fingertip=1cm dialted. Is this true?

Her movements have also decreased by almost half in the last 4 days or so and on my last ultrasound (Jan 17th) my cervix measured at 2.9cm and the doctor doesn't seem to be concerned about anything.

About a week and a half ago, I went to the prompt care clinic about my pelvic pressure and they did an ultrasound, doctor said everything looked fine and sent me home. They didn't even check if my cervix was the same or shortening or not..

Sorry..that was long. I'm so stressed out and worried. I just want her to be okay. Sad

I'm pretty amazed that at 22 weeks you can find your own cervix! I think at this point, you will have to trust your doctor or find another doctor.

Wow... so are you having contractions on the regular. At 22 weeks and your cervix is dilated at 2.9cm. I would be pretty worried and would expect my doctor to be worried too. Why not try going to the hospital to labor and delivery and have them check you. Tell them that you little girl is not moving as much as she used to and that you want to make sure that she is not is dis-stress and that you have been having contractions. If your having contractions I know for a fact that in FL they check your cervix to make sure that it is still closed. Strange... Best of luck to you and I hope your baby girl is ok.

She isn't dilated to 2.9. That is her cervical LENGTH.

Yes, she does suspect that. Her doctor doesn't seem concerned.

I am concerned for her and I am not her doctor. I agree with Ingi you may want to look into another Doctor. Do what you can to ensure that your baby girl is ok. Honeslty try the hospital labor and delivery unit.

i dont think the dr would be concerned unless it went under 2cm, mine was right at 2cm and my dr just told me to take it easy i was 28 wks at the time. Chances are you could be a fingertip dilated. Wich is nothing really. If the pains form a pattern then id just head to the hospital to get checked out. Just take it easy and dont overdue it. As long as your cervix doesnt continue to shorten u should be ok u just have to take it easy because if it shortens anymore u could be on permanent bedrest for the rest of the pregnancy.
