Hello,
I came off microgynon in October due to
extreme migraines. A soon as I stopped
taking it they disappeared I lost weight
and my general mood is brilliant - all
good!
The only thing is I have only had one
period since which was very light and more
of a slight bleeding than a period. My
partner and I have been using condoms and
I had a pregnancy test when I was back in
the uK just incase in December - but it
was negative. (I live in Japan so it's
impossible to get Doctors help really as
they have almost no experience in women
using the pill). Still I have no period
and in the last two weeks I have had
period symtoms - a little bit of PMS,
discharge, slightly bigger breasts and a
bloated stomach plus a very slight pain in
my upper area of my stomach. ?
Does anyone have any experience of coming
off microgynon? I know every body is
different but I'd be grateful for any
information. I really don't think I'm
pregnant as we have been super careful
with condoms but just wonder when if

Temporary lack of a menstrual period is an
expected side effect when you come off
birth control pills. The body needs some
time to get used to the new situation. To
be precise, the hypothalamus was blocked
while you were taking birth control pills.
This endocrine, hormone producing gland
needs some time in order to start
producing GnRH. Most women usually need a
few months to re-establish normal
ovulation and menstruation cycles again.
Furthermore, it doesn’t seem likely that
you are pregnant but you can easily check
for that by performing a pregnancy test.
