Q: A special gift for new mom?

I have been thinking of something and would like some advise. I am about to become a 1st time grandma (that sounds soo old!). My son and his girlfriend (both 20 & 19) are expecting a little girl in about 3 weeks. This was very unexpected but very much welcomed. I feel as if my heart is going to jump out of my chest - I'm so excited!!!! I would love to give my future daughter-in-law something very special after the baby's birth. Any suggestions???

Thank you,
Lori

How about a Grandmothers love poem?
Make a poem than print it off with a nice paper like scrapbooking paper print it and put it in a picture frame?
I think that would be a cute idea to do!

What about mom jewelry?
You can get a pendant or a ring with her birthstone and your soon-to-be-born granddaughter's birthstone. That would be so sweet. I wish my mom got me one lol

oooo....After I have my baby I would love, love, love to have a massage Smile I love them though and my dh gets me at least one a year. Maybe a day together at the spa. Make her feel sexy after giving birth.....but then again I have never givin birth and who knows you may not feel up to that afterwards......I sure could go for one right now though Smile Good luck. I am sure what ever you do it will be very special.

Hi Sweetie! Me Fairy*Godmother
This needs to be something special that she will cherish.....you can go and get a massage, manicure, pedicure anytime. I was thinking more in the line of a special quilt. You could also have her a "family" album made up and start it yourself, with pictures of her, your son, your family members.........and add pictures of your granddaughter and other family events!

Oh please Lori you don't sound old hun, as you mentioned that she's going to be your daughter in law hmmmmmm... why not give something that is yours and make it a family heirloom like let say an antique, chain, braclet, pendant, photo frames, silver hair brush etc anything that is from you to her and then let it pass on to your grandchild. If you want something simple and easy maybe get her and you a spa retreat so that you both can get to know each other better, enjoy each other's company and 'connect'. Oh why not have a hand print of you, her and the baby and have it framed up?

I would think there's nothing better than a homemade certificate of a free week or two of housecleaning and cooking if you are able. I know it's nothing that lasts, but it makes a world of difference in the mom's recovery....sleep and rest is the best gift you can give a new mom!

I think a makeover paid for her would be great, a new mom should feel sexy and be looking good, a makeover like hair, nails and maybe one outfit would be nice!
