I wouldn't do anything while pregnant. I wouldn't do anything with alot of excitement. I'd just wait untill you have your child to do any life changeing decisions.

No! You are not supposed to get tattoos or piercings while you are pregnant.

Ive heard that it's okay to get a tattoo while you're pregnant just no peircings. I wouldn't advise getting a tattoo because you're still at risk for hiv or hepatitis.

No I just read that on pregnancy weekly. Could cause infection, if it gets in the blood bad for you and could prove fatal for baby. Beside that if it is anywhere from boobs to as/s it will be stretched out and never look right after pregnancy swelling goes away.

Also remember that your immune system is down and your body is very tired. Getting a tattoo or a peircing can cause serious problems, your body is less prepared to heal and fight infection, especially in early pregnancy. Tattoo ink goes into your blood stream, your blood you share with your baby. Definitely not a good idea!

I got a tattoo with my first child, and it was fine. (he's 7 and healthy)

this one i'm getting my labret pierced....

Don't worry about it... I've never heard of not piercings... what is that? Lol they draw blood at the doctor's office don't they?

Ugh... I hate it when boards give crap info. Call your doctor, and ask him. You'll be fine.

My doctor was the one who told me not to get tattoos or peircings. Just like how your not supposed to dye your hair when your pregnant either. I was told this because I have 3 tattoos, one on the base of my neck has to be touched up. I also have 15 peircings.

So, its not just a board telling these things... Its people that have had their own experiences... Some passing on what their doctors have told them.

So if her doctor told her the same thing mine did, would it also be crap info? Should I just assume my doctor is giving me crap info because you say so?

That funny. Being that I do hair, and have two pregnant woman I did just this past weekend....

Like I said, call your doctor. The risks do not change from being pregnant and when you're not. You always are at risk for disease with a tattoo if the things aren't sterile.

If it's so awful, than why would tattoo parlors accept a pregnant woman into their shop?

They won't accept drunk people or children, but pregnant women they give a hell yes to?

Wow..

And as far as your doctor. I never said anything like that. I can definetly see a doctor saying 'maybe you shouldn't do that' as a risk for possible health problems concering non-sterilization.

I'm not sayin to go over there and get a mural across your back, and pierce your face in 8 different places.

A little defensive are we?

I've got a healthy child, and one on the way... Should I check my 7 year old for defects? Lmao

I am not saying it is or isn't safe. I am just saying what my doctor told me. I am defensive because we are here to offer advice and our experiences, you are putting everyone down because your so sure your right, meanwhile other people doctors are telling them otherwise.

The people that post here arent just a "board", we are people with our own opinions. If you posted before me, I wouldnt put you down just because your advice differs with my doctors advice.

I never said your 7 year old would be messed up, I never said that tattoos and peircings would cause defects. Just like how my mother smoked the whole 9 months with me, like many other women, and I am just fine. Just like how I can go smoke some weed and me and my baby would be just fine. Just like how the doctor told me I shouldn't eat cold cuts, but hey, I had a turkey sandwhich for lunch.

I don't disagree with your information, but find your "ugh... I hate it when boards give crap info." comment to be offensive.

I think the reason they say not to pierce or tattoo when you are pregnant is because your body is working overhaul to provide for this baby, the last thing it needs to do is fight off an infection. Do a google search for 'tattoo while pregnant' or call your doctor, you'll get your answer.

My mother does hair and I have 11 piercings and 1 tattoo.. My doctor said not to do anything life changing. Anything that gives off alot of excitement do not do. Also do not dye your hair while pregnant, the dye could effect your child. Like everyone said. Ask your doctor because people all have their own opinion's and there are argument's about it. Doctors know best.

It is 100% fine to get a tattoo early on in pregnancy. For example, getting a tattoo before you discover your pregnant.I do not recommend getting anything on your body peirced during pregnancy.Peircings will automatically produce bacteria, no matter how clean you keep it.

Even a tatto place will ask if your pg and if you are they want give ya a taoo like you cant donate blood when pg. When getting a tatoo you fill out paper work to get and it will ask if your pg. Why dont you call a tatoo plce you will find out the answer from them. Or ask your obgyn. :d good luck

I am a professional accredited body piercer and will say that I have never heard that u cannot be pierced while pregnant.I myself would not pierce a pregnant woman only for the reason that certain people react to metals differently and can be allergic but can also cause blood infections and end up in hospital. Also a matter of personal hygiene can cause a piercing to be infected I think it is just not worth the risk either having a tattoo or piercing while pregnant.I think its best to wait definatley and go to a great accredited place with professionals.Really the time will fly and you may even find a design that you like better that happens alot you will be thankful that you waited.

Is it safe too get a tattoo, no what you need to do is worry about what you putting your child life into anything can happen. I think you should wait until you have your baby and then worry about the tattoo so you and your baby live a normal healthy life. :)

For one I am focused on the pregnancy and not the tattoo. What im telling you is too worry about the child and what kind of danger you can be putting the child threw by getting a tattoo, and by the way im 21 years old and a mother of two.

<< the risks do not change from being pregnant and when you're not. >>

are you kidding me???? The risks might not change for the woman who's pregnant, but what about the innocent life that could be affected? Oh, my gosh. I can't believe you said that. I have no idea whether or not a doctor would say it's okay to get a tattoo while pregnant, but is it really that important that you can't wait nine months to get some crap inked onto your body that you'd even risk the worry?!?! There are so many things wrong with that.

<<if it's so awful, than why would tattoo parlors accept a pregnant woman into their shop? >>

because they want to make money, and they don't have any vested interest in the health of your child. They're not in the business of child care.
