Cymbalta for depression and anxiety Posted: 02-09-08 16:46pm
If I wanted to get medication for
depression and anxiety, can I see a
general doctor (the one who does my yearly
physical exam) or can only a psychiatrist
prescribe that? (I'm interested in
Cymbalta). THank you!
Cymbalta (duloxetine) is an antidepressant
drug that belongs to the group of
pharmaceuticals called selective serotonin
and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor
(SSNRI). SSRIs and SSNRIs are frequently
prescribed by primary care physicians,
especially family physicians, but if you'd
like a more precise diagnosis, it may be
best to seek the advice of a mental health
professional such as a psychiatrist.
