I have had pain on my left side for 3
weeks now. It is a dull-medium ache that
gets stronger with food and drink. I have
had x-rays of my ribs and bowels, blood
test, urine test and nothing positive came
of them. So the Dr. sent me for a barium
enema. I have not received the results
yet. As I prepared for the barium enema,
my symptoms seemed to relax a bit, but
now, two days after, and back on a normal
diet, my pains are back even stronger. The
pain is NOT in my abdomen. It is on my
very left side, under my rib cage. Right
in the spot that I would rest my hand, if
I were standing with my hands on my hips.
Even cold water brings on stronger pains
instantly. It hurts(only in the above
mentioned area), to breath in deep,
although it is not impossible. I feel the
pain all day long and at night. It
worsens when I eat or drink. It even felt
like it went up into my left chest and
left arm last night. The pain subsides,
but never goes away. It has been three
weeks. When I went for the "Benema"(Dr's
slang), I gave my symptoms to the tech,
and the radiologist suggested that it
might be an upper GI test that I needed,
not a Benema. But, they went ahead with
the test anyway. Maybe I will be returning
to the hospital for an upper GI series?
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on this, I
would appreciate the input.
