red shiny skin lesion on left leg Posted: 02-11-08 01:14am
Hi there,
For the last year or so i have had this
strange skin lesion on my left leg close
to my ankle. I can't even remember how it
started but it won't go away with any of
the creams I have been prescribed. I am
currently on the waiting list to see a
speacalist but who knows how long that
will take!
The skin lesion is red in color, has kind
of a shiny look to it except when it gets
itchy and starts flaking, it is about 1
inch in diameter and has gotten bigger
over the last year. Is slightly sore to
touch, feels kind of like a raised area
but not by much. It can get very itchy at
times and the skin will start to peel,
once it peels it is VERY red and shiny and
tight looking. I have been to the doctor
about it and she has no idea (hence the
wait for the specialist) have tried many
diff creams on it, hydrocortisone,
anti-fungal, topical ect
i have never had any skin problems before
although i have very fair skin. The only
other thing wrong with my skin is what I
believe to be a psoriasis(sp) patch on my
elbow, the patch on my leg is not at all
similar. I am adding a photo in case that
helps. I hope I have put enough info in
here - please ask any questions. if you
have ANY idea on what this might be and
how I can get rid of it please please let
me know Thanks.

Do you get the worse itchy feeling when
this lesion start to peel?
Can you think of trauma or injury at that
site, week or two before this lesion
appear?
Do you find that the lesion is well
defined and have sharply demarcated
boundaries?
Are you experiencing ankle pain and
stiffness on your left leg?
