insulin injection locations and food for high blood sugar Posted: 02-11-08 09:56am
I am a type 2 diabetic. Insulin has been
added to my list of meds. I have been
started on 50 units of Lantus. I have been
doing the shots for 4 days and the first
shot was in my right arm. My sugar level
was 367 before and the day following it
got down to 184. The next 3 days I took
shots in my stomach and my sugar levels
are in the 300's again. Does it matter
where you take the shots?
My main question is, "What can I eat when
my sugar levels are so high?" It seems
like everything will make my sugar higher.

It sounds like you need bolus (mealtime)
insulin to me. Your sugars are still quite
high and hopefully, they will start coming
down. I don't have much luck with it
working well when I shoot anywhere but in
the abdomen. I would love an alternate
site that works the same but don't know
what that is.
I would say to try low carb vegetables,
meat, eggs - those are a few things that
don't have a ton of carbs. I hope your
levels come down - it is very frustrating
I know.
