Does being gay run in your family?

Do you have gay siblings and you are gay also? Cousins? Aunts? Uncles? Does it run in your family? Is it hereditary?

not sure, I have two cousins who are lesbians and I tend to lean towards bisexuality. Not sure you can say that its hereditary though - what is the proof?

I don't have any proof, I was just curious.I have 2 gay cousins, a lesbian cousin and a trans aunt. I have heard that it did and I was watching LOGO the other night and there was this family of 6 kids and 5 of them were gay or lesbian. I just thought it was interesting and decided to take a poll..Smile

I've always felt that your born with it, that you don't choose it, it chooses you.

Your born with it but it may take awhile for you to realize it and then inform others. That leaves most of them to think that you chose it IMO.

What you "chose" is when you accept it and when you tell people. But its already been pre-determined IMO.

So when did you chose to accept/acknowledge it?

When I was 16 I came out to my family but I always new. I was born gay and have always been gay because ever since I had my first crush it was on a boy at school and I have never been in love or had sex or strong feelings for a girl...although I love them I am not attracted to them mentally or physically.
How about you?

When I was like 10 or 11 I was attracted to a couple of neighborhood boys that I played with. But it was around freshman year in highschool when I was in gym class watching the other guys change that I wondered why I was staring at them. I dated girls and all, was attracted to them as well but there was still the highly charged feelings of seeing a naked guy. To this day I still like looking at gay porn even though I am married, attracted and totally in love with my wife.

Don't know my family history past my grandmothers, but in the current generation my daughter is BI, 2 nephews (brothers) are gay. We suspected about 1 nephew when he was a toddler. I just found out about the other. One is out to parents, other isn't. Parents are real jerks about it all. I found out about my daughter by accident. She hasn't come out to me, but it doesn't matter. I'd love her any way she was.

Me either...it is so sad and unnecessary. I know if I had a child I would have to love him or her no matter what there sexuality, after all, it isn't something you choose, its just who you are..I believe sexuality is innate and being gay or bi or trans or straight doesn't make you a good or bad person, that comes from the heart. There is good and bad in everyone and who you love and who you are attracted to has nothing to do with it.

BTW, my daughter and nephews are the sole children of their generation in the family. I find that to be interesting.

I have two cousins that are gay - one is lesbian, the other is gay - also, they are mother/son.

Mother had two kids previously before coming out and dating women. Her son just came out recently.

From there, not sure who else is gay/bi in my family.

Mother and son...that is interesting...and kind of cool that they are both out and open with each other.
