21 yrs old with pain, migraines, fevers Posted: 02-12-08 17:42pm
Hello!
I haven%u2019t had a whole lot of success
with the dr.s I%u2019ve been to so I
thought I%u2019d see if anyone here has
any ideas. Any input is greatly
appreciated. The below is the short
version, honest!
When I was very young I had frequent
bladder infections & kidney infections
which damaged my left kidney. Other than
that growing up I was healthy & happy w/
plenty of energy. When I was 17 I started
falling asleep very early every night
(7-8pm) and had constant bladder pain &
pain w/urination. Tests would come back w/
presence of white blood cells & traces of
blood but no infection. Hypersensitive
bladder, said one urologist. Then I
started having pain in my stomach & upper
sides, which dr. thinks could be colon.
They determined I have gastritis, acid
reflux & esophogitis and prob. an IBD. The
bladder & side pain is worst before,
during and after periods plus I have very
long, heavy & painful periods so drs.
suspect endometriosis. Things have
escalated since June 07 when I started
getting migraines & severe headaches 1-4
times/month that would last anywhere
between a day - 2 weeks. The headache
types vary - classic migraines; all-over
splitting that gets worse if I move;
stabbing w/sensation like nerves or blood
vessels in head are on fire; etc. I've
also been catching a lot of viruses (5
times in 5 months) & infections and even
when i'm not "sick" I still have chills,
achiness, nausea, fatigue, weakness &
swollen glands in throat & neck. I also
get that sensation when you eat something
tart or acidic where ur saliva(?) glands
go Zing!! except for me it happens
randomly and lasts for hours/days. In the
past couple months I started having these
sweating spells in the middle of the
night. I%u2019m not hot, I just start
pouring sweat. It%u2019s weird because
I%u2019m almost always cold & I rarely
sweat. I also get low-grade fevers when
I%u2019m especially not feeling well and
I%u2019ve developed a non-itchy rash that
started as a small patch between my
breasts & has spread out & up my neck &
shoulders. The rash %u201Cflares up%u201D
%u2013 gets redder & spreads %u2013 when
I%u2019m feeling especially crummy.
I%u2019m thinking some of the above could
be hormone related, even though I%u2019ve
been on the %u201Cmini pill%u201D for 4 ½
months, because my periods have been
weirder than normal as well. They used to
be every 4-5 weeks for 7-10 days and very
heavy, as I said b4. But in early Dec. I
had a period after only 3 weeks, then the
next one came 5 weeks later, then 2 ½ wks
later I had a lot of pain but bled only a
tiny bit for a few days, then a week & ½
later I again had more intense pain in the
lower region but I only spotted a couple
times.
The doctors I%u2019ve been to have for the
most part just tried to figure out and fix
isolated symptoms but haven%u2019t looked
at why a previously healthy 21-yr old girl
would be having so many health probs. I
think they get a little overwhelmed by how
many symptoms I have. I%u2019m hoping
someone who reads this post might have an
idea of what could be causing all this, or
could recommend a type of
doctor/specialist to see. Dr. House%u2019s
cell # would be great, too
