HPV vaccine with genital warts Posted: 02-12-08 22:28pm
I have been with my boyfriend for three
years. he is the only person ive ever been
with. About two yrs ago i found out i have
genital warts. my experience with this
particular doctor made me feel dirty and
disgusting - i was utterly humiliated.
because of that i have never had any other
checkups since. i have finally made an
appointment for next week to get a pap
test because im scared i have cancer now
cos ive left it too long. im terrified. i
feel so alone. can anyone give me advice
or tell me wat is to be expected during
the test etc.
Also is there any point in getting the HPV
vaccine when ive already got the disease?
i am so depressed and alone. My boyfriend
is abusive and cheats on me but i feel
like i have to stay with him because who
would want me now? i dont want to be alone
for the rest of my life and i would never
want to give anyone warts or put them thru
this.
Some risky types (16, 18, 31, 45...) of
HPV can cause precancerous lesions
(displasions) on the cervix that in time
(several years) can be transformed into
cervical cancer. PAP-test can detect these
precancerous lesions according to the cell
changes in the squamous cells rubbed from
the cervix. That's why PAP-test has great
practical value in preventing cervical
cancer. It give us chance to act before
malignant transformation occurs.
Not all genital warts are caused by risky
types of HPV. Unfortunately most of the
risky types of HPV do not cause visible
lesions (warts). Beside PAP-test, you also
need DNA-HPV-test to prove and determine
HPV's type.
HPV-vaccine won't help you because you are
already infected with HPV. You can only
use local therapy to treat the warts.
