Pain in the lower left back Posted: 02-13-08 09:46am
Hey guys, im a 24 yr old oil field worker.
The other day, when i woke up i noticed a
stiffening in the my left buttock and
lower back, Thinking it was just a sore
muscle, i threw on some A5-35 and took
some IB Profen. Through out the day, i
didnt really feel any pain or stiffness,
when i got back in my truck and was
sitting for 30 minutes, when i tried to
get out i had the same stiffness as when i
first woke up.
So after a day or two of waking up to the
same stiffness/pain i noticed also my left
foot started to be sore , as well when
sitting down for extended periods, i got
almost a numbing pain on my left back,
buttock and leg along with a burning
sensation in my left hip
After a few more days i was kneeling down
setting up some equipment and when i went
to stand up, i felt almost like a popping
in my lower left back and now its
virtually so uncomfortable with pain that
i cannot sleep more then an hour or two at
night. Along with this , it hurts to sit
or lay down and the most comfortable for
me is standing up or walking.
Now i imagine i need to get into a doctor
ASAP, but does anyone have any insight as
to what maybe happening at this point?

Hello Degenrash,
Welcome to this forum.
Sorry to read about your back pain. I'm
very concerned considering the work that
you do.
YES, you are right, you need to see a
doctor ASAP. AND I would highly recommend
that you also make an appointment with the
best neurologist/spinal surgeon in your
area. Don't delay as waiting can just
make things worse.
Do let us know how things go for you.

At first I wanted to say inflammation, as
it can spread to other parts of the
body...however, the description of the
burning sensation is the same as I am
having with my wrist. I have a spasmism
in my neck, causing a spasmism in my
shoulder which in turn causes an
irretating burning pain in my left wrist.
You might have a permanent spasm
(spasmism) whereby the muscle goes into
spasm and doesn't relax again. This could
contribute to the other symptoms such as
pulling on joints causing it to subluxate
(dislocate/mal-allign). Your best bet
might be a physio-therapist and or
chiropractor but I would start with your
GP to be on the safe side.
