what to eat after gallbladder surgery Posted: 02-13-08 19:05pm
i had my gallbladder removed February
11th. i am only 17 and i had crystals on
all of the lining of my gallbladder. i
went home that night and was still in a
lot of pain. my pain pills have helped but
when i was released i was told i could eat
a normal diet, at least that is what the
doc said. my
nurse said that i should eat bland for a
couple days. i don't really know what
would be considered bland and what isn't.
what kinds of foods are good to eat?

When I think of "bland" I think they mean,
soups, crackers, toast, jello etc. Maybe
some noodles. What do you feel like
eating? That might be more important to
go by.

Hi nedoglover,
I had my gallbladder removed Feb 8th.
After my surgery I ate light for a few
days. Broths or chicken noodle soup,
jello, lots of water and juice. A couple
of days later I moved up to soft foods,
mashed potatoes, oatmeal, soup.
Now I'm eating a more normal diet, but
staying away from high fat foods, milk
products(except yogurt), and soda, because
not only does it cause bloat, but also
diarrhea.
You have to try different things and see
what you can tolerate best.
