sounds like Omnicef... that one always works for my kids when amoxacillin doesnt.
I hate it when they have both ear AND sinus infections.. poor baby give her a hug for me!

The reason the doctors start with that antibiotic is because as a society, we are creating antibiotic resistant strains of bacterias. And, who knows, maybe 20 years ago, the infection your daughter has could have been cured with amoxicillan. But now, after so much use of it, that particular strain has figured out amoxicillan and it needs a stronger antibiotic.

I'm glad your daughter is resting it off. I hope she feels better soon.

Did you give her some tylenol or motrin? Didn't the doctor prescribe those drops that help with the pain? If her ear drum didn't burst, she can take those. Call the doctor and see if you can get a prescription for it.

Do you have a heating pad? Those work really well! They don't offer the moist heat but they are good because they keep an even temperature (warm).

you can get a moist heat heating pad. I hd one for my Sciatica with Oni.

I burt my ear drum when I was in the 2nd grade. I had to have drops put in. Talk about HOOORRRRRRRIBLE!!! They hurt SO bad...

I can totally empathise wtih your daughter. Ear problems SUCK!

Some people have mentioned a heating pad, but if you don't have one, a hair dryer set on warm (definitely make sure it's not too hot) really helps with the pain as well. If you have the warm air blow into her ear, she she feel a little better. My oldest was prone to ear infections up until she was 2 1/2. She would be given one antibiotic and then 2 weeks after finishing the medication she would be back in with another ear infection.

I hope your little one feels better soon!
