eating and drinking constantly, dizzy and confused Posted: 02-13-08 23:24pm
i posted this symptoms on a different
website forum and 'diabetes' came up
several times in the following responses.
i thought it might be better to ask on a
forum about it then.
anyway, i'm 18, male, and have a parent
with type 1 diabetes...
i've felt quite ill the last two days... i
can't kick this urge to eat and drink
despite constantly consuming food and
water. i feel kinda dizzy and
uncoordinated, kinda confused... with
pressure in and around my forehead. my
eyes feel 'strained' and my vision is
noticeably poorer than usual. i have
muscle spasms throughout my entire body. i
feel short of breath often and i feel
quite lethargic, having had a hell of a
time even getting up in the morning. i
feel flushed, and i have a 'butterflies'
feeling in my stomach quite a bit. i have
strange sensations and pains throughout my
body as well.
i'm probably forgetting something... i
don't feel altogether right. if it sounds
like it could be diabetes, please let me
know.

The eating and drinking constantly could
definitely be a sign of diabetes. The
others don't sound like 'typical'
symptoms, but definitely could be. Do you
find yourself going to the bathroom a LOT
more than usual, and have you lost any
weight? Those are both huge signs of
diabetes. If you want to know, could you
check your blood sugar on your parent's
meter? Or go to a drug store and get some
ketosticks. You pee on them and they show
if you have ketones, which are a byproduct
of high sugar in your urine. If you show
ketones, that's a good sign you do have
diabetes. Good luck and I certainly hope
it's NOT diabetes.

many of those symptoms have subsided
now... except for two: i'm still hungry
and thirsty. and to answer one of your
questions... yes, another symptom i'm
experiencing was brought to my attention
this morning: i'm losing weight. some
friends freaked out about how skinny i've
become since the last time they saw me. i
checked myself on the scale after that and
discovered i'm 178 lbs... i weighed 189
lbs a mere two weeks before this. that's
11 lbs lost... despite eating and drinking
more than usual.
i'm trying to get a doctor to check it
out. i'll probably post again when another
major event develops.

I had, and have every single symptom you
described in your original post. And while
not professionally diganosed, I know that
I am diabetic. Dunno if that helps you?
