My parents had three cats before I was
even born: Lucky, Banshee, and Mickey.
Banshee died at 14, weighing in at 21 lbs.
He was diabetic and he went into a coma
and never came out. I loved that cat.
Damnit now I'm crying. Ugh. We buried him
in the back yard. Had a funeral service
and everything.
Lucky died...two years ago, I think. He
was hit by a car. It was awful. He was
17.
Mickey died in September of 2006, age 17.
He had a heart condition that no one had
ever picked up on (it usually kills cats
by the time they're 7, so Mick was lucky).
He threw a clot and it cut off circulation
to his hind legs, and so it was just more
humane to put him down.
Both Lucky and Mickey were cremated. Their
cremains are in little urns in the china
cabinet.
We had a pet cemetery at our old house: 4
hamsters, 12-ish gold fish, and a
butterfly.
Raina will be okay, I promise.
