Severe Pain Under Left Ribcage Posted: 12-13-07 08:11am
The week of Thanksgiving I thought I was
coming down with a cold. I had coughing
and sneezing with slight wheezing when I
breathed. A few days later I developed
intense pain on the left side of my
ribcage, I thought I coughed so hard I
fractured a rib. After 6 days of home
treatment to no avail I went to the doctor
and the said I had Pleurisy and prescribed
medication. The wheezing and sneezing
stopped and I felt better overall but the
intense pain persisted. I went back and
they X-rayed my chest and said my lungs
were clear and no fracture to my ribs. I
was given a shot for the pain which helped
immediately. It has been 4 weeks and the
pain now feels more to the front of the
left side of the ribcage and hurts when
touched or slept on that side. My cough
is like I'm trying to clear my throat and
the mucus is clear. Overall I feel better
except for the severe pain with movement,
touched or sleeping on. Could something
else be going on that my doctor has
missed?
