I am a female, 20 years of age and I need
to get really serious about BC.
My problem is that I have a horrible
history of depression and in the next few
weeks I will be seeing a Psychiatrist to
get Rx meds for it.
I have tried Ortho TC LO before and it was
horrible. I bled for weeks and I got
suicidal.
I was just wondering if anyone else has
depression problems and what kind of BC
works for them??
It is really the only concern I have with
BC...
Also, I'm hoping that I can find some form
of BC that I control (not condoms, etc)
Please help!

I can't be of any help, sorry. I'm neither
depressed nor have I had depression issues
on BC. There are non-hormonal kinds of
birth control such as the copper coil IUD
(yes, you can get one even if you've never
had kids), the diaphragm, the cervical
cap, and female condoms.

I have severe depression (possibly
bipolar, will know soon) and I'm on
LoEstrin24Fe. The first three months I
would have HORRIBLE mood swings that would
make me want to punch people or cry but
after that I was pretty good. Now I'm
back to being my good ole depressed self
without extra mood swings.

JARVIS11-
The SAME thing happened to me, although
that was YEARS ago..
I CANNOT use hormonal BC at all..period.
I recommend the copper IUD, paragard,
and I love it.
