hair loss and stress
Posted: 02-16-08 13:13pm

hi, I have had 3 major ops since 2006 and have been suffering with hairloss.
Could this be down to the stress of the ops or the pills I take for constipation and heartburn?
I was having 80mg of oxycodone a day and am now on 20mg a day and hoping to come off totally.
I take Lansoprazole for sickness and several laxatives.
I had a subtotal hystectomy and clam cystoplasty in nov '06 and cystectomy in oct'07.
My hair is almost gone on the top and very thin at the back, I am waiting to hear about a appointment with my gp.

It could be due to the stress of the ops. That is a lot of major surgery to go through and the toxins of the medications and anesthetics are probably over flowing in your system. Even tho the side effects of those things are gone, some of it is "stuck" in your system. I would recommend a detox program.

I am thinking that the hysterectomy may have a lot to do with your hair loss as well. Hormonal imbalances from having this surgery are big factor in hair loss, so you might want to consider a hormonal therapy if you want to get your hair back if this is the case.

Other than that, there are some pretty awesome wigs that you can obtain for about 100 dollars average. My sister has hair loss issues as well at only 30 years old and has been trying out different styles and she looks awesome.

thankyou for your reply,
I have just had a thyroid test done at my Doctor's surgery.
My Doctor thinks the same as you, but is concerned about the huge weight loss also.
I will of course look into what you have suggested thankyou xxx
