I have been working at my job for 1 whole
year and from the day I started my boss
has been promising us health insurance but
nothing has been done about it. At first
it was fine because I was under 25 and
still covered on my parents plan but once
25 hit I lost it all and started having to
pull money from my own pocket to pay for
my medical cost. When I asked the office
manager about insurance she said the
business just can't afford it right now
but they are working on it...Thats the
same answer anouther co-worker said she
has heard for the past 6 years.
In the past month I've spent over $1500 in
medical bills because I don't have
insurance. I applied for Medicaid but was
denied because my income is just above the
poverty line for a single woman. I only
make $600/month working full time. My
bills are starting to add up to more then
I make in a month. I love my job but I
may be forced to quit and find something
new or pick up a night job so I can afford
to live. Most privet health insurance
plans I've looked into are too costly to
even consider with my income. I have
never had a problem with money until I
lost my insurance. I've always been very
careful how I save and spend my money
since I have been in college for 7 years
and just finished my degrees this past
December. I only fear I may fall into the
debt trap if I don't find an affordable
insurance soon!
I have some health issued I would like to
take care of before they become worse but
I have pulled together everything I got
and still don't know how to go about
taking care of my basic medical needs.
Any suggestions?

find a local agent? Posted: 03-04-08 11:22am
depending on where you live there may be
special programs available just for your
situation. In Northern Nevada, we have a
plan that is VERY inexpensive as long as
you don't make more than 120% of the
poverty level and you don't have to be
medically underwritten. Otherwise, you
might just try for a high deductible
individual plan with a Heath Savings
Account so that all the expenses you are
paying out of your pocket will at least be
tax deductible, and you will receive a
discount on in-network providers, plus
protect yourself from a major financial
problem.

I would just go find a job that offers
health insurance. Easiest way to solve the
problem.

Get another job. Posted: 06-01-08 18:23pm
You got college and you make $600 a
month...that nuts. My kids make more than
than working part time. Are you in the
USA??? If so get another job with health
care and more money. The pay is great out
there and there are many jobs for you.
Just do it. Jack
