Hi am kinda new and looking for some info, most of the websites don't give me what i'm looking for.My bf has epilepsy and I am so afraid cause we ae so far from each other, we live in different islands. His last seizure was in february and he is going on well but i'm the one freaking out, this is my first time dealing wit this so it is typical.
I wanna know what type of foods can he not eat cause I don't want to cook him something and then I end up losing the man I love Confused So plz someone even a doctor tell me what type of foods can my man not eat.
Thanks for the help Smile

Hey girl Smile I know it can be very scarry Exclamation but don't worry about what he eats. As long as he is eating at least mostly healthy . He will be ok. I've never been told to eat or not to eat any thing concerning my epy. As for as I know food doesn't affect it. Stress can. So that is what you need to be concerned about. If you are stressing over him having epy, then he will pick up on that and start stressing. Make sure he is taking his meds reg. And you show him how much you care without obsessing over the ep. You and he will do just fine! Smile take care

Sorry I didn't mean to mislead you. I honestly have never heard of that! I'll ask my doc. To see what she says. I have never had any problems with food causing sz's. You said you looked it up on the web? It didn't say which foods may trigger szs? You have me curious now! I'll see what I can find out. I'll let you know, and if you find out ,let me know ok?

What kind of epileptic seizures does he have? Grand mal, petit mal, jacksonian???? Each has its own triggers and sometimes a person can have a mixture of types. The good thing is he is being treated and will learn more as he begins to live with this. You desire to get information will ultimately help you to relax and feel more confident and less apt to worry about him. You mentioned you live on different islands, hawaiin or caribbean? Your local library will also have tons of information, and the librarian will help you find the most recent and pertinent information. Since some forms of epilepsy have been characterized as a "brain storm", all of the newer neurological medications have much fewer side effects than the older phenobarbital and dilantin.
Keep digging up those internet info gems- good luck, girl!

New Meds

I've been on dilantin for so long and i'm sz free for now. I've tried cthers before with no luck and much worse side affects. With all of my other health issues i'm affraid to switch. Where in ga do you live? I'm in st. Marys, close to jasonville, fl. My husband is retired navy so it helps living close to the base. If they carry it we get our meds free. For me its the rest of the medical bills that hurt! Sad
