I've been taking Yaz birth control for
over a year. I began taking Amoxicillin
for a sinus infection Friday.
My clit seems to be swollen, slightly
itchy, and has clumpy white discharge
around it. It hurts to touch, and when it
is touched it itches. I find sitting in
hot water or holding a cool rag over it
soothes it a little.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(I know that antibiotics may cause a yeast
infection, but I am very unfamiliar with
all of this, and I can't talk to my mother
about it, and my boyfriend's answer to
everything is "I don't know either.")

Sounds like it. It is easily fixed,
however. The pharmacist can give you a
pill and pessary combo that will knock it
on the head. Meantime, try putting some
live yogurt on a pad - the friendly
bacteria will start redressing the balance
inside your vagina and it is also very
soothing.

The timing of the antibiotic does make
this seem like a yeast infection. Try the
yogurt as above poster suggested. I had
done some internet research and some
people swear by AZO but I've never used it
myself. Others reccomend boric acid. When
I was on a very strong antibiotic my Dr.
also gave me a probiotic to prevent the
yeast infection. Perhaps you could call
your Dr. to let him/her know whats going
on and they can help you from there. Good
luck!

Yeast Infections. Posted: 03-15-08 01:04am
Antibiotics definitely cause yeast
infections. I have a yeast infection right
now and it started when I took augmentin
for a sinus infection. I cannot get rid of
this darn thing. And I do not have
diabetes or hiv. Yeast infections are not
always so easy to get rid of .
