Irritable bowel syndrome is (as I
understand it) one of a number of immune
disorders which can mimic each other.
My daughter (almost 16) went down to 32kg
last october then after self diagnosing to
correct the fool diagnosis of anorexia
nervosa put herself onto the ibs -
specific carbohydrate diet - but there
seems to be more & more things that
are becoming a problem. Her weight now
though is great 47kgs which if anything is
abit highish for her 150cms.
She can not eat any rice, pasta, bread,
cakes, biscuits, potato, sweet potato,
corn, banana (allergic), only limited
natural sugar (so not too much fruit per
day), low fat cheeses (but not all
cheeses), no milk, yogurt or soft drinks
or cordials or fruit juices, no added
sugar, most sauces of any kind are out.
She can have some cakes & sweets (if
made according to specific carb diet &
if they don't upset her, alot of trial
& error!! )
and almond meal flour may be ok (yet to
test that out).
But she's getting constant bad gas (the
smell is awful) & more & more
often she is upset in the stomach because
something hasn't agreed with her or she's
had too much of it in one day. Like too
much fruit might be 2 apples or several
apricots, or too many nuts (some nuts she
can't eat at all & some well it
varies) etc etc
etc>>>>>>>>>>
;>>>>>>
she basically does her own cooking &
shopping as it is just so hard to know.
Any suggestions
re the gas problem & any experiences
of whether the system settles down to
accept the new diet & stops reacting
so negatively so often to so many
things????????????
Any sites that we can go to for
information?
any alternative therapies that might help
any of this??

Are you sure it's ibs? Maybe a diagnosis
would be in order.
A friend of mine from kickas.Org which is
basically a site for folks with as has
been experimenting with sea kelp which has
natural antiinflamatory properities. He
says it works well in miso soup.
Many of us with as have tried the no
starch diet with excellent results. It's
strict and difficult to get used to but
the system does calm down and the carb
cravings die down. If this is close to
what your daughter is on perhaps reading
carol sinclairs book would be helpful to
you. The weight lose can be concerning.
Can she tolerate red meat, butter, even
chocolate?
Best to you both,
klem

I noticed your your last post was last
year,i am wondering if your daughter is
any better, also have you ever heard of
candida,if you have not come across any
answers yet for your daughters problem
look this up,she sounds very similar to
me.If it sounds like candida to you she
will need to change her diet,if she is
eating things like nuts(yeasty)dairy
products(no good)fruit(sugar) you need to
eliminate all yeasty,dairy,anything with
sugar and sweetners,sucrose,fructose.Then
you need to supplement diet with
magnesium,calcium,acidophlis(good
bacteria)a good multivit,a supplement to
kill off candida,liver support,and a few
others, this will help make imune stronger
while her body is going without. You can
get all info on net...Leila

My daughter stopped eating all those
things & regained weight hand over
fist despite being extremely active -
walks alot (several miles most days) &
swims etc etc. I know she started to take
at least some of those supplements but
what she's doing now we have no idea as
she's thrown us out of her life (unless
she wants something!!!! - such calls are
being ignored more & more often) &
so far as i'm concerned she'd like to see
me dead!!

Hi,
irritable bowel syndrome can be well
managed by ayurvedic medicine and diet.
What is the reason for getting ibs? Only
answer is the life style. Our stomach is
very good by birth. But we destroy it in
every second. In ibs the food is an
enemy to the mucosa. So it will try to
expell it. Normal digestion is not
happening in ibs patients. What is the
answer to this problem? Please look to
yourself. When did this started? What
is the immediate cause? What is your
daily routine? What is the stress on
your head? Surely you will get good and
speedy recovery through ayurveda. There
are some specific herbs which will
regenerate the mucosa and increase the
digestion. The poly herbal formulations
are timetested and serving millions for
thousands of years. So please look
yourself, realign your lifestyle and
attitudes, some simple herbs all will make
your life more happy

Always What Not to Eat? Posted: 11-07-07 22:35pm
I was wondering what we could be suggested
to eat, all IBS sites/forums say, DO NOT
EAT or STAY AWAY FROM but I would like to
know what I CAN eat. I know it is
different for everyone as there are three
different kinds, I was told to experiment
but I never have the time.
