minor testicular pain after hernia repair Posted: 02-24-08 20:57pm
up until almost five weeks ago i was pain
free in the testicular region. the only
lifting above 20 lbs was when i picked up
my grandson who is 2 years old and is
definely above 20 lbs. i'd say 30 or plus
pounds. it was a day and half after i
started to feel this minor pain. i'm
starting to worry that it has come back
again. i took an ibuprofen at 600 mgs.,
and its seems to have subsided, even when
i cough it doesn't bother me. i do have a
doctor's appointment coming up real soon.
can one have testicular pain without
causing harm to the hernia repair? how
concerned should i be?

Did you have mesh implanted with your
hernia repair?
It's possible you pulled a few muscles,
can not say for sure it would be best to
have your surgeon check things out.
Again many people are having from hernia
repairs due to mesh complications, it's
all over the internet and with any luck
the FDA will look into our complaints
soon.
Best of Luck..

minor testicular pain after 5 weeks from recurrent hernia repair Posted: 02-25-08 09:22am
yes, i had mesh implanted, and the method
of surgery was laparscopic. i can say for
sure it wasn't near the pain when the
hernia began at inception. today it seems
to be much better. as to the type of mesh
was used, i have no idea. i had a good
surgeon though. today i've been coughing
hard and i'm not feeling anything like i
did yesterday. as you suggested, i'm
hoping it is pulled muscles, and when i'd
stretch out a little, i felt like maybe
that could be the case, because of some
tightness. thanks for you input. i see my
surgeon today.

I don't doubt you had a good surgeon, it's
the meshes that are giving many of us the
problems. There are some surgeons out
there who still believe the meshes can not
cause these problems, even my non surgeon
doctors have heard about the problems. I
just wanted to give you a heads up and
keep a close watch on your
pain levels.
I hope you get some good news from your
doctor.

i just got back from the doctor's office a
little bit ago. he told me it was scar
tissue breaking off. the exam came out
well. that made my day. i start back to
work tomorrow which is a good thing
because unemployment is way slower to get
than disability money. 5 weeks is long
enough to go without a paycheck. he did
say that if there were any problems ahead
to not hesitate to call him back. i'll
cross my fingers that i won't get any pain
once i start having to do a little lifting
at work. hopefully this little thread will
help out someone with similiar
circumstances. heck while i was there, i
never did ask to see what type of mesh
they provided me with. thanks again.

Glad you got good news.
You can always call the doctor's office
and ask what type of mesh was used, if you
are interested.
